Bangkok flooding has left streets underwater, cars stranded and local businesses struggling after more than 24 hours of heavy rain. I went out to see what was happening around Phetchaburi Road and Ekkamai.
The water was above my knees in places. I found abandoned cars, a flooded 7-Eleven, shops surrounded by water and Grab drivers still trying to make deliveries. I also walked down to a nearby canal to see how the rising water was affecting the surrounding streets.
At first, walking through the flood felt surreal. The longer I stayed out, the clearer it became how hard a day like this hits people who depend on daily work and small businesses. I stopped for lunch at a local restaurant that was still open, with floodwater all around us.
