Check out Scorched Basin here before it's too late! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/homieandthedude/scorched-basin?ref=bv00bf  ALSO! I'm anticipating some people mentioning this so let me try and beat you to it: on the Caster build, we could have gotten Hex via the Fey Touched feat. I should have mentioned this. When I crunched the numbers for it, we ended up in about the same place, damage-wise, depending on the enemy AC, at level 6, and worse off at level 9 and up - this was largely due to 2 factors: 1- You can't cast Hex and Innate Sorcery on the same round, nor Hex and another leveled spell, so it got us off to a MUCH slower start. 2: I assume we'd be needing our Bonus Action every other round to transfer Hex to another target. It's just too clunky to be super effective if we've already got other uses of our bonus action, but maybe at a table or on an adventuring day where you're needing to conserve resources, it'd be a good fall back option! ALSO ALSO! Thanks to Wolfstar in the Discord for pointing out that we could've gotten a bit more damage with Firebolt once we had Elemtnal Affinity vs. True Strike. This was my response there: "Yeah, I largely stopped thinking about the cantrip ;). But, to be fair, there's a decent likelihood that we too could get a magic weapon, and even a +1 Light Crossbow ends up outpacing still, damage-wise, when you account for the better hit chance /shrug. Outside of a magic weapon though, sure, go for Firebolt as long as the enemy isn't immune! 3 more damage is 3 more damage."

Honestly the idea of a single-class build for every class is really interesting, I'd definitely tune in.  It kind of makes a good framework for comparing other builds to, kind of like the baseline "I can do this all day" build from a while back...

A series dedicated to "pure" single class 2024 builds -- Let's go! :D

Sorcerer vs Barbarian is a great matchup, as they are the "power up mode" classes for casters and martials respective. Now we need a video each for the Divine (Clerics vs Paladins), the Nature focused (Druids vs Rangers), the Generalists (Fighter vs Wizard), the Skill Monkeys (Bard vs Rogue) and the Short Resters (Warlocks vs Monks).

Well Colby, it's a Draconic Sorcerer, so it makes sense that it "Scales" better.

I think the Biggest Martial vs Caster divide isn't actually Damage output. It's utility and adaptability. Spells provide a level of creativity that Marital subclasses just entirely lack most of the time.

I'd love to see that straight class series you mentioned, I think that's a great idea and gives a good baseline to compare classes and builds against

My personal feeling is that every martial should get a 3rd attack at level 13. Fighters still get to be special by getting it earlier than others at level 11 and then a capstone being a 4th attack still works. But Barbarians reaching a bit of a damage plateau as early as level 5 is rough. They should definitely get strong enough to power their way into swinging their sword faster. Monks could use it as well, even though they already get a flurry of blows bonus at 10 or 11. Maybe Rogues as well could get an extra attack at level 11 since they don't get extra attack.

This was an AMAZING video. I am 100% in for 12 straight-class 2024 builds and have been wanting you to do something like that for a LONG time!

My favorite Barbarian Class feature: "Imrpoved" Brutal Strikes

I think a simple way to close some of the defensive gap between Martials and Casters is to give PCs their full hit die values at every level. That’d make the gap between different hit die levels far more impactful.

Rage against the Arcane is underrated.

FINALLY!!! Not everyone likes multiclassing... I know its the premise of what you do but this is refreshing. Please do more!

"Love Pounce" is my all Tabaxi Bard band...

Bone Wizard talked about this. A martial with the right class, race, subclass, multiclass, and feats CAN keep up in single target damage with a spellcaster. Just any spellcaster, from any race / class combo, with no feats or subclass.

But add a second enemy in the range of fireball and the wizard is suddenly more powerful, from further away, which means they are less likely to be hurt by either enemies or traps.

Then out of combat, the caster has versatility, while the fighter can... wait for initiatives.

Came for the build(s), stayed for the potty talk.

Thanks for doing the math on this one. I think the longevity factor is huge and oft not considered enough. Well done.
