Also very bold for the wizards to assume they're better than muggles because they can do magic, when I can literally do long division.

Kinda fucked that McGonagall could spend an enormous amount on Harry's broom, but none of the teachers helped Ron get a new wand

1:40:25 imagine being the muggle-born wizard that brings a pack of BIC pens to Hogwarts instead of quills and ink. Imagine how much more efficient you'll be at writing notes and taking tests

Shoutout to the scene where 14 y/o Hermione's teeth were hexed to grow past her chin, and when Snape saw her he said they "looked the same" which made her run off crying

not gonna lie, an American character named "Huckleberry McRib" would be really fcking funny 😭

I just realized that as odd as it sounds, just based on what we know, most muggleborn kids should be far more charismatic, confident and sociable than most wizardborn kids.

Simply because school is not only for academic learning, it’s also the place where most of us learn about socialization, playing, coping with frustration, etc.

I love how the thumbnail is just Voldemort taking a brief look at Harry Potter.

Two more uplifting points about house elves: It is very heavily implied that if you set them on a task that requires multiple days to complete, you also need to make sure to specify they can eat and sleep, or they will happily deprive themselves of either for weeks on end. And near the end of the dumpster fire that was the seventh book, after the battle is won, Harry wonders if he should order Kreacher to make him a sandwich, meaning not only is the main character not freeing his slave, he is actually a fully complacent and willing slave owner.

"To fill one's house with tumble driyers and telephones would be seen as an admission of magical inadequacy"
BUT USING SLAVE LABOUR ISN'T?

Actually in book 5, when Arthur is wounded and consequently brought to St Mungo's he says he's receiving an experimental muggle treatment (stitches) that his doctor studied and was eager to try on magical wounds. That means that SOME wizard doctors do research muggle science, but obviously the experiment fails dismally and Arthur's body rejects the stitches, as he keeps on bleeding out. JK made sure to also make fun of it through Molly's voice, because obviously muggle medical solutions are by default inferior and ineffective.

Rowling really called all the international schools “mojo dojo casa house” and thought no one would notice

I do love the fact that the child endangerment argument always makes Lucius Malfoy looked like racist, classist, bigotted man...but also the only parent in this entire story who cares that his son is constantly in danger in this school. Like I don't know how often there's a little implication that Luicus MAlfoy sent another angry letter to Hogwarts, and at some point, the reasonable reaction to this is just "yes. Well done! Why isn't Molly sending more letters?" Like the Weasley's always just send poor Ron an howler, never the school that put their kids in danger.

what I love about astronomy lessons in hogwarts is that anyone with high school physics (Keplers Laws and Newtons Gravity) could predict the entirety of the future because the stars can just be predicted. Why didn't they do that? Because they have no education apart from their own world

The dursleys abandoning harry at the train station is even more messed up when you realize that petunia went with lily before, so she knows how to help harry on platform 9 3/4 she just chooses not to.

"everyone'd be wanting magical solutions to their problems" is just a simple way to say "we don't believe our great power comes with the great responsibility to make the world better."

Now that I think about it, actually Dumbledore's character might be the most epic troll from JK. You know how she names things, like a plant teacher is called Sprout and a werewolf is called Wolf McWolf basically. So were we really supposed to think DUMBledore was wise?
