The documentary “New York 77”, makes a compelling argument that the same creative spark & circumstances that gave birth to HipHop culture, was also the catalyst for Punk Rock in NYC.

Man it’s like living my teenage and 20’s all over again.

I'm so glad oxymoron got a mention.. highly underrated band, fantastic writing, and probably one of the best drummers of the genre.

Was 8-10 years old when my dad showed me The Exploited - Fuck The USA. Called me over to the computer while I was playing video games. Buddy put it on, said “check this out” and went out for a smoke with my mom so I could watch it 🤣 I’ll never forget that, all these years later and he was in a Pennywise pit with me the other night 🤘🏻 Thanks Dad

Great video, man! Growing up I listened to many of the bands listed here, with Cock Sparrer being one of my favorites. Oi! and punk in general will always have a special place in my heart. Glad I found this channel!

I came up with the Lower Class Brats and Krum-Bums. I remember when we were all just playing for our girlfriends and the sound guy. Really good buddies of mine. Good to see them mentioned.

Templars are always incredible, anything Lenny Lashley touched was gold,Junto from Washington , The Take from New York, Reducers SF , .45 Adapters, and Concrete Elite are some of my faces and are all necessary listening.

Takes me back to all the nights I spent at City Gardens watching whoever was there. Those early Bouncing Souls shows were awesome

From someone who experienced some of your subject matter first hand, I’m very impressed with your knowledge considering that most of this occurred well before you were born. Thanks for keeping this stuff alive.

This perfectly describes every weekend, every Wednesday and all summer of my life from 1994-2001.

I had a band from Los Angeles who’s first lp came out in 1982 called The Detonators. I’ve played with about 90 % of these bands, especially the early stuff that’s mentioned. I’ve toured with DOA as a Soundguy in the last few years.
Just wanted to say that this video was extremely well done, not hyperbolic and all “worshipy”, which I greatly appreciate.

Giving the Swingin' Utters a shout out and LP recommend just shows what a good job you do. Almost everyone overlooks them. Thank you, Subscribed. PS Perkele from Sweden is a good band that doesn't get exposure in the USA.

I was at blitz last and true show with all band members and I can tell you, they were class and we all knew what punk was about that night. I’ll never forget how great we all felt and everyone was just raised from being poor young and angry. Nobody could give us a toss and we felt alive.
