After your reset in the kids rooms and where they play, have the kids pick up there own toys when they are finished playing and at bedtime.  Also, live by the saying “don’t put it down, put it away”.  Those couple of things I found extremely helpful to mitigate the overwhelm.

Don't worry about furnishing your entire house. Joshua Becker just did a video about slow consumption. Also look at The Minimal Mom, her new house is so empty and she loves that it is so easy to clean with so little inventory.

I find a “reset” every night really helps me. Doesn’t have to be sparkling, just straightened.

For laundry I suggest you do one person's load each day. Then towels one day and bedding the next day. Pick up stuff on the floors or tabletops while the laundry is going. For dishes, rinse them after every meal and load in the dishwasher. Start the dishwasher at bedtime, the when you get up, unload it. Make a schedule for your boys, too. They need some visual to show them what needs done before bed. (Clothes in hamper, toys put away, bath, teeth, etc.) Good luck!

For laundry, try watching The Minimal Mom. She has 4 children. They are older now so be sure to look for video from years ago when herkids were younger and she was with her husband. She doesn't bother to fold clothes. I think she also does each child's laundry as it own load (has a separate laundry basket for each child) . This elimates sorting.  If I find the video I will edit this comment with the title. I think she does all her laundry in one day but it would probably be better for you to do a load a day.

When my kids were young a few things helped out a bit. Before naps we’d each pick up what we got out and put “our” things away. Before bed we’d do the same. No toys in their bedrooms as it was just books and stuffed animals. Helped keep their rooms clean. Now that my kids are older they’re stuff is never laying around. I think the habit of them seeing what was theirs and how it contributed to the mess helped them grab their stuff and put it away. I always tried to start habits that could be life long for them, and help the family out. Obviously as they get older shifts change but it’s worked for us. ♥️ Jamie

Your baby bump is adorable 🥰

When my two boys were your boy's ages my rule was clean up all toys before bedtime.  Also very very few toys were allowed in the family room.  Their bedrooms weren't big, yet their toys lived in their spaces, NOT the common areas.  Now they are in their 30s, own their own homes, and keep them orderly.  In fact their wives thank me for teaching them to be tidy.  Good luck with your kids too!

Congratulations on the new home and pregnancy 🎉 please take your time and enjoy this wonderful phase of life. You’ll get things done before you know it 😊

This was my routine when my children were younger, the ages yours are.  I'd make my bed immediately,  I got out of it (still do).  I also never fed anyone until the chores are done e.g, everyone made their beds and got dressed, (with help if needed) before breakfast. We'd talk about what they wanted for breakfast whilst we were getting the chores done so it was fun, before long they did it automatically. They put toys away before snacks and dinner. My mother-in-law taught me that, she was a genius, she said if you do everything yourself for everyone you are managing a hotel with unpaid guests not creating a home.  Also my husband emptied the dishwasher every night before bed and I do one load of laundry a day without fail (still do). All the other chores like vacuuming, mopping, bathrooms etc I pick one a day and just do that chore nothing more., the rest of the time I'd be playing with the kids 🥰

Maybe before bed write a to do list for the next day, give yourself grace if you don’t complete it. I know I am more productive if I have a plan when my feet hit the floor, it helps you mentally prepare for your day that can be comforting and less stressful. ❤❤❤

Love your videos! For laundry I would suggest much lower clothing inventory.  It somehow makes keeping up with laundry so much easier.  My kids had 5 or 6 pants, maybe 6-8 tops, along with 1 or 2 nicer outfits.  Even my daughters had only a couple of dresses at a time.  They grow out of their clothes so quickly, that by having fewer items it lets things get worn out.  Maybe put some clothes away for awhile to test it out. 🥰You are doing such an amazing job!

For your knees, I suggest getting some indoor shoes with a thick insole, like crocs or something similar that your heels can sink into,it will help take the pressure off of your knees. Eventually your ankles  will start hurting too!
That helped a lot in my last pregnancy 🫶🏼

For laundry, try washing per person that way you eliminate the segregation part and put right away to the designated room. For toys, specify one area for storage and play so it is not all over the house. I do keep toys in kids bedrooms but only a few favorites.  Let the kids help with chores. Our kids started putting away dishes when they’re 4 and 5. For organizing, zone everything based on functions. Do not feel bad when your house become chaotic. It is really hard with your situation right now.

Get a big shoe tray for the cats food! We have it for our dogs water bowls because they were starting to ruin the wood flooring.

One trick that works for me is to have a "Randoms basket".  This is a basket (or box) in which you put any random item that you find when tidying up. For example: device cords in the bathroom; bills in the kitchen; one child's toys in another child's room; used coffee cups in the lounge room, etc.  You get the picture.  If you just put everything that does NOT belong in the room you are tidying into your "Randoms basket", you can then quickly distribute them to their correct homes once you have finished tidying the room you are working on.

Evening reset for sure, I leave no dirty dishes in the sink and my counter tops are clean, sweep or vacuum the kitchen and dining area before I go to bed. It motivates me to carry on the next morning, after my coffee and motivational YouTube video or two 🤭, thank you 😘. I absolutely must get up and have my morning time, at least an hour before anyone else gets up. Jesus with my coffee, then Laura and Aaron of Garden Answer and I’m ready for the day😘🥰
This is what I’ve done since my kids were small.
Give yourself some grace momma 🙏
One day and one room at a time, doesn’t have to be perfect just what’s pleasing to you 😘🥰

The best way to keep a home tidy is to put away and straighten as you go.  Put things back after use, done playing with toys pick up and put away, fold cloths when taking out of dryer etc and because of doing that your whole house doesn’t become a disaster. I have done that since I had children and the house always looked nice. I am not saying I never had a mess somewhere but the whole house wasn’t that way.

Mrs Cat you give some really good suggestions and you have some good plans…..but you have to remember “Simplicity is Key”.  You have a little one on the way and you’ll need to do a Family reset meeting with your husband and little ones.  Reward the little ones when they complete their tasks.  Somethings going to have to give once the baby comes.  Amazing how people get a new house and design a laundry room and never fold the clothes in the laundry room.  I think the kitchen island is the best place to fold up the laundry.  😅Thanks for another great video Mama. 👍👍👍🤗

With the new baby coming, it’s time for you both to teach the boys that putting things away is part of the process of taking it out to play.  You need your rest and to reduce all that clutter with the toys every day.  Engage them in preparing for the new baby.  This would also be a good time to teach them how to make their bed and put their laundry in the hamper and how to keep their room neat.  Parents are teachers, otherwise the child can see you as only the cook, maid and bottle washer.  They are not too young to learn. Persistent training pays off.
