the orangutans are unbelievably cute.

What separates Johnny from most other hosts: he's genuinely interested and his reactions are also genuine.

He seems like he had a soft spot for animals

The way baby apes look into your eyes is so adorable.

Johnny was fabulous at promoting wildlife:  their plights, their care and their survival.  Thank you, Johnny, wherever you are!

It's so adorable, the way the baby orangutan keeps hugging Carson.

When he started cracking up, and the baby just looked at him like "what the heck are you laughing at?!"

Finally a talk show host who let's the animal handler speak.
edit: Now that I rewatched it after 4 years, I realised how much I've matured. He is doing the opposite of what I praised him for. He was talking over the lady the whole time.

I always adored Johnny. When he said for people to "stop buying" ivory and other things like that, I loved him even more. He was so wonderful.

Johnny was the best. His first thought is about the disgusting act of killing an animal just to make an ornament for somebody's desk. Class act. He let the experts talk, and explain the animals, with the occasional quip to keep the mood light. He always did his best to interact with every creature, and it made for genuine good times. His respect for the animals of this world was something that always stuck me, and it is evident as you watch his face with those orangutans. Priceless.

Johnny Carson was, is,and will always be the king of late night television.

"Excuse me, I don't mean to laugh at your face. It's a very sweet face." Aww!

I’m 26 and it saddens me so much that talk shows aren’t like this anymore. It’s purely about money now and going viral.

You can tell how sensitive Johnny is to the struggles of the animals...he was such a good man !

I love that Johnny was passionate about saving animals from poaching and unnecessary killings. He was an awesome guy.

So nice to see how Johnny listened attentively and interacted in an open and interested way with the animals.  Nearly all the late night hosts now act like idiots when an animal expert brings creatures to the set, drawing attention away from them and to their own egos.

There has never been anyone like Johnny Carson for showing love and kindness to animals.  And of course, he always got great laughs at their antics toward him.

Carson was a class act. No one will ever top him. The tonight show has been dead to me since he left.

That's why there will never be another Johnny Carson. The best has no rival.

I miss Johnny, he was always entertaining.
