A note on sources for this video. Everything covering the Jenova Project, Lucrecia, Vincent, the Nibelheim incident is drawn from the original FF7, Crisis Core, and the FF7 Ultimania. The section on Hojo's digital upload, the neo-Reunion, and the Omega plan comes from Dirge of Cerberus.

Gast - "The only person in this story with a genuine conscience."

Vincent has a conscience as well.

No wonder Hojo’s obsession with the digital world in Dirge of Cerberus stemmed from his realization that human biology is limited. By digitizing his consciousness, he effectively turned the planet’s network into his own personal lifestream, proving he wanted to transcend being human just as much as Sephiroth did. This man is genuinely insane.

Hojo fight will be an epic battle in part3! Lots of status attacks and mako madness.

I see Hojo as the real villain of the story. Without him none of the horrors of Gaia would exist.

4:37 even before the town was destroyed Hojo was getting "specimens" brought in and shipping bodies out.  The basement has bulk coffins for those that didn't survive his tests and there are skeletal remains from the deceased lying around.  He was basically the Josef Mengele of FF7.

Im pretty sure ghast was actually around and in charge of sephiroths care in his early childhood since sephiroth talks about him in a familiar tone and even seems to have looked upon him as a father figure at one point untill he left shinra and hojo took his position, hojo was originally ghasts assistant and sephiroth is quite a bit older than aerith.
Ghast didnt find ifalna, ifalna was in shinras custody, ghast was her overseer due to being the head scientist and in charge of cetra research, eventually the two fall in love and ghast helps ifalna escape shinra and runs away with her, thats why hojo and shinra were after him in the icicle inn town, they were technically after ifalna to retrieve her not ghast, ghast only got killed for resisting and protecting ifalna.
Its possible vincent is actually sephiroths biological father, lucretcia couldve already been pregnant with vincents child,i cant imagine luctretcia and hojo actually getting "intimate" or hojo getting intimate with anyone period really and sephiroth has a strong resemblence to vincent(they both share character data in the og ff7).

Huh, I missed how similar Lucretzia and the Gi’s stories are. Both are tainted by Jenova, unable to die, rejected by the Planet and quarantined from the greater flows of the Lifestream

Remember towards the end of the game where dude just full blown starts jucing himself with Jenova cells & mako and kept transforming into a series of horror 😂

It you put it in Biblical perspective, Jehovah was a Fallen Watcher/Angel. Hojo created Sephiroth a “Nephilim.” And then started mucking with more people to figure out how to safely implant Jenovah genes into himself, transform into a god, but retain his memories, he’s basically the antichrist.

Is it possible that he isn't himself anymore and is basically Jenova? Did he copy her plan or is it still her her doing what she's always done?

I loved the final Hojo fight in the original game. Such a dramatic sequence. One of my favorite Shinra characters

Zack, Cloud, Aerith, Vincent and Red XIII were all Hojo's lab rats ats one time or another. That's half of our team, the man was a totally evil booger!

I was interested in his 3rd form lifeform hojo. But i noticed its not often talked about yet its so different from other jenova forms

What would be mind blowing? As a shocking turn of events, If Gast also uploaded his conscious to the network 🤯🤯. It would be fun to see, and with a touch of closure. Even as a holographic in Chadley's VR world.

Been peeping your vids and replaying og. (Not into playing remakes personally, but cool to watch cutscenes online 😎). This one got me thinking how in remakes they'll probably make Hojo the real big bad at the end post Sephi. They seem to be adding new story with the whispers, alt timelines with Jessie and co surviving and other Zach, and more reunion stuff. Would make sense if Hojo somehow uploaded himself into the memories  that Sephiroth talks about or into the lifestream's memory/humanity's collective unconsciousness and pieces of his fragmented soul and mind are reforming/reuniting/reunion-ing in the remakes post ac and dirge. In the original the big bad is really Jenova for most of the  game and you fight her body parts in the shape and form of Sephiroth (and mind broken robed dudes sometimes but they are controlled by Jenova and her body parts roaming around that we fight). Then at the end you fight the twisted and mutated demonic angel Sephiroth and the rest of his actual body but you could argue Jenova is still in control and Cloud's final mindscape duel has always been mostly about him getting over his imposter syndrome, inferiority complex, and imposter/fake identity/persona thing. Then in media after, and cameos Sephiroth has been the main villian since that's who we all remember fighting and who had the cool 😎 Nibelheim on fire flashback fmv cutscene, and now in the remakes he seems to be the big bad now and his dialogue hints that he has been up to shenanigans since at least ac and reunioninzing and doing metaphysical nonsense. Would make a lot of sense if they at least expanded on Hojo a bit as his whole act has been stealing other people's research, ideas, and abilities as his own 😂 Gast, Lucretia, Jenova, etc fits so well with Jenova swelling up into a bloated tick-like being parasiting and stealing from everything and copying physically and Hojo stealing copying and adapting everything mentally himself a nasty little greasy tick a parasite and theif. I also love how in the og he has this gross Neanderthal protruding head hinting at his true barbaric, violent, and primitive nature as comes withthe cartoon likestereotype we have for them. It fits with his genocidal form of science that is all about profit and greed with a complete lack of ethics, empathy, and accountability. Real turn that gas chamber into a rocket to the moon so we can drill it for magical space oil rays the blood of the living planet and mine and poison that village for rare earth minerals for the rocket type science. Real captain planet corporations are killing the planet for prophet themes and symbolism game.

The unholy trinity of ffvii main bad guys: the father hojo, the mother Jenova, and the son Sephiroth (who really embodies the whole expanded series as whole, as its spirit, with his theme music alone). Lucretia is just a poor surrogate frozen in time and trauma now.

I'd listen to you talk about FF for hours. I hope you keep making lore content

You kinda get why Jenova acts as it does, it's a cosmic predator, practically a fungus, it just feeds and moves on because that's all it is. Hojo however wanted to become that willingly, which is just insane. Why would a human being wish to exist forever, feeding on planets and leaving them barren?

I believe Hojo's experiment on Vincent resulted in the Galian Beast. It was Lucrecia who infused the power of Chaos into Vincent to revive him and implanted the Proto Materia to suppress its nature so Vincent can control the form.
