Join Redhead Cylinder Head & Engine Technology as they rebuild a 2.1-liter water-cooled boxer engine in a VW T3. This is the big brother of the VW T3 1.9 WBX engine. Our patient was previously tested in the van – while still running.

You can find the video of the engine check here: VW Bus T3 2.1 WBX Kaufentscheidung-Schnell...

Now the time has come. The two owners, Emmi and Kris, are tackling the project with the necessary tenacity to see it through. Don't underestimate the effort involved in restoring a car; the road is long and arduous. This includes rebuilding the worn-out engine. Most of the horsepower of this former workhorse has long since run away. Our task will be to recapture these snorting four-legged creatures and house them in the aluminum and steel casing in such a way that they feel right at home. Performance can't be locked away. It remains voluntary when it feels comfortable and well-supported.

It's like with us humans: when we feel good and are well-supported, we stay willingly. If the mood shifts—whether justified or not—disintegration, resistance, and decreased performance threaten. Once this has occurred and the symptoms are addressed too late, panic and fear set in. These are often fueled by people who have never actually worked or accomplished anything in their lives! These so-called experts, however, claim to know exactly how you and I think and what we need. How companies operate, how money flows. In fact, opinion leaders can cultivate moods and guiding principles through repeated statements. Regardless of which side of the river they're on. Let's trust in the skilled hands of a government forming in our country. But please forgive my justified doubts about the current political actors and their party bases behind them. Do our employees feel safe and secure here? How can it be that a German premium brand manages to rid almost all of its engines with design flaws, then cheats everyone worldwide, doesn't really stand by it, and causes global reputational damage to our country? How can it leave you, the owner, with immense losses in the diesel scandal, thereby jeopardizing entire engine concepts? How can it encourage you, the consumer, to make government-subsidized purchases, only to then abandon you like a potato? Your values are trampled into the ground, and you don't even receive an apology. No, you then have to try to sue for your rights. A disgrace! And it is precisely these people who are now, with government support, playing the reformed ones and demanding total change because they have ruined an entire market. They know it themselves. They want to be the first to leave the battlefield that they themselves largely ignited worldwide! Have you forgotten already? The about-face is now taking place under the guise of green ecology, and once again, politicians are being charmed by their advisors. They even pocket taxpayers' money for this and act as the link between business and politics. The truth certainly has several sides. And electrical engineering will play its part in the future. Rightly so. But don't be fooled. The "how" is once again a crime against Germany and the people of this world who lack a voice. I myself am currently looking for a new heating system for our workshop. Apparently, it's difficult to find a system that won't be subject to punitive taxes or be overpriced in the next 10-15 years, or that simply doesn't meet the requirements. Radiators are useless in a workshop. The door opens and closes; you need rapid heat exchange. A year ago, we sought advice on gas heating several times because everyone recommended it. Now that almost everything is finished, everything is being questioned politically. That's precisely what I mean by hasty decisions. It's almost always the people and small and medium-sized businesses who are sent into battle without being properly informed beforehand. It would be nice if actions sometimes allowed for structured, smooth transitions. Today this, tomorrow that. Businesses with such inconsistent leadership quickly die. In a country, it takes longer until the muezzin in Cologne calls from the rooftops that we've been pulling the wrong levers instead of focusing on what's essential: getting the horsepower to the ground and letting it unfold and feel its best. With our engines, this works when we use Kolbenschmidt and Mahle components, whose dimensions we've checked beforehand. Certainly not with Asian junk and poorly thought-out strategies!

With that in mind, let's revive Emmi's and Kris's Boxer.

Greetings to the world.
