RIP to the last of the great founding fathers of Africa. You are reunited with your good friend Mwl Julius K. Nyerere.

As someone born to Namibian parents taken in by Zambia during our liberation struggle I want to say thank you sir for the help you gave to liberate my country. I used to be ashamed that my birth place on my birth certificate is a camp in Zambia, I never understood why my parents didn't write down Lusaka or any city in Zambia like other parents had, now I know it is as a reminder that there were Africans out there who cared for their brothers and sisters enough to take them in, and help them attain freedom. My heart will forever be drawn to Zambia (Zambian by birth, Namibian by descend).  I hope we the younger generations can learn from leaders like Dr Kenneth Kaunda (a real servant of the people) and hopefully take the dreams they had for Africa and turn them into reality.

"The Embassy of the United States of America joins the Zambian people and the international community in mourning the passing of His Excellency Kenneth Kaunda, the first president of the Republic of Zambia. We extend to his family and the people of Zambia our condolences. President Kaunda is known to the Zambian people as the Founding Father and Liberator of the Republic of Zambia. He was steadfast in uniting Zambia's 73 tribes through his commitment to “One Zambia, One Nation.” He advocated against discrimination of people living with HIV/AIDS and was a tireless advocate for the poor and marginalized. We honor his memory and his service to the people of Zambia and across Africa. We mourn his passing. May his soul rest in eternal peace."

Kaunda suit is still very popular with older people in Uganda . He is indeed an African icon!

Love from India 🇮🇳 to all my African brothers and sisters!!✨❤️

This a man with a big heart for Zambia. From grade 1 to  University free of charge, May the Almighty God bless him

Great son of Africa and the world. Rest in peace the struggle icon.

It was always exciting to see him . As a little girl lining up by the road side in our school uniforms waving little Zambian flags 🇿🇲, was so exciting.
He was a great leader indeed.

Truly an icon with a big heart that shaped Africa, may his spirit live for ever amen!!!

FATHER OF ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATIONS,LOVE .

Keep the knowledge of him alive for the young generation to know.

In the 70s in Rhodesia we laughed at KK.
I'm older and wiser now and recognise him as one of Africa's very few Statesmen.
I am told by those who knew him that he was a highly agreeable person and a good golfer to boot.

I grew up in Kenya wearing the Kaunda suit but never knew the origin of the name, I do now

Watching this after his death is nostalgic. May he rest in peace!🕊

🇿🇲🇿🇲 One Zambia One Nation 🇿🇲🇿🇲

Am a Gambian but i can still remember my song for Dr Kenneth Kaunda. I admired him so much for his knowledge and wisdom. Long live Dr K K

We need leaders like him here in Africa, long live! your excellency. May other leaders look upon you

South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe in particular should always revere this leader.

Jamaica in the house during covid 19 shout to my Zambian family.

What an inspiration you are, Dr. Kaunda. I love your joviality, your musicality, your love of God and people. Thank you for being who you are and carrying on the Good Work!
