I watched almost every game of Larry's career. Bird went 50/40/90 for a 4 year stretch. He averaged 10 rebounds/game for his career. He made everyone better, dominated while telling everyone what he was about to do and was mentally tougher than anyone else. He's my #1 pick all time if I'm starting a team. James Worthy said, "Jordan will make you look slow but Bird will make you look stupid"

When it comes to "the GOAT" arguments, you can say someone is the best guard, best rebounder, best shooter, etc... but Larry was great at EVERYTHING.

In MY opinion, "GOAT" means best all around player. And that was Bird.

Thats 100% facts. The east was loaded

Whoever your favorite player is, Larry Bird is their favorite player.

I do believe that Bird is the most clutch payer to ever play and I do believe that Bird at his peak is the most impactful player overall to ever play and Bird is my GOAT.

Here's the thing, it doesn't matter what we all think.  Guys who played against him call him the GOAT.

Larry Joe the Legend Bird will always be my GOAT, from the Philippines

Even jordan said bird was the standard to which he thrived to be.. no one was more clutch

Two reasons also for why I have Bird ranked 1 are 1. The year before Larry joined the Celtics they were 29-53, the next year with Larry they went 61 - 21 and went to the conference championship  and won the title the next year. 2. There's only one player in NBA history that has averaged at least 24 points, 10 rebounds  and 6 assists for his career and that's Larry Legend!

50/40/90 club 4 seasons in a row!  and was the first to do it!

In my opinion, yes he is, at least my goat. Just a great basketball player, period

Bird is the true GOAT. He is the most complete player the sport has ever witnessed.

Bird is my number 1 all time greats pick for a starter team! The legend

If you didn't grow up watching Bird in the 80's than you will never fully understand why he's the goat. Words can't describe what we saw and what we felt as we watched Bird vs Magic. At the start of every season people poured over the schedule to see when the Lakers were playing the Celtics. Those games practically became a religious experience for most of the 80's. All season long people would speculate at who would be good enough to knock out the Celtics in the playoffs to face the Lakers, or would it be Celtics vs Lakers again this year. While everyone knew Magic was a great player, everyone also knew Bird was just a little bit better than Magic. It truly was a time to behold. And just looking at stats or watching old games could ever compare or replicate the excitement or wonder that we experienced in that decade.

He’s my goat.
“I like when he says there’s more nuance to greatness…& more answers to it than you think!”

Larry is so clutch that many times he even increased the pressure by telling them what he was about to do and then do it, even at the buzzer. He is hands down the clutchest player ever.

Several greats from his era put him at the top. Kareem, MJ. Larry Legend!

If he had hit that shot, he would have 4 rings and magic would have 4. What would the conversation be like.

Over 36 million people tuned in to that NCAA National Championship in 1979.
For comparison only 16.4 million watched the deciding game 7 of The NBA Finals last year.

11:56 the first eight 1st ballot, Hall of Famers he mentions were all in the Bird's Beastern Conference.
The last five were 3 LA and 2 Houston HoFers in the Weak West. Magic's Lakers had far less competition in the West.
Plus! That cakewalk meant the Lakers were a completely healthy team in The Finals, every year. Same cant be said for the Celtics in that hard knock, meat grinder in the 80's Eastern Conference.

In that game where he had the 3 buzzer beaters, Larry also hit 2 free throws with 4 seconds left to force the second overtime.
