You'd think that a trio of assault carriers literally designed for and veterans of a war where the enemy specialized in overwhelming numbers of (amongst other things) extremely fast and agile droid fighters would be marginally more effective against a horde of kamikaze shuttles with no tactical maneuvering or effort to avoid fire.

Also, whatever wrote this scene somehow got it into their head that tractor beams miraculously now also possess the properties of sensor jammers and ion cannons/EMPs since none of them ever fired even a single blaster bolt of point defense fire and their shields weren't up at all.
