I die inside a little bit every time Glen says “Way back in the day” and then is talking about the late nineties……it cant have been that long ago….

I like your observations. I'm an electronics technician, so 25 years ago I simply made my first Soldano SLO preamp and connected it to my JCM900 combo. The sound was amazing. Then I modified that preamp to Mesa Boogie dual rectifier red channel circuit. I was surprised that it only took a few components to replace. Any young electronics enthusiast can try. It's so much fun. Just be careful, high DC voltages can kill you.

I used this amp for 10 years till I retired from metal, extremely dependable,  sounded great, and took a beating.

The comment about watts is spot on.  I run a 20watt amp through a 2x12 and a pair of bv-25m speakers.  Still shakes my house with the output volume at 2!

I can afford it and I thought about buying a lot of high end stuff, but thanks to this channel I've been able to get all the sounds I wanted using inexpensive gear. I used to believe the marketing hype like crazy. Now I get to have a setup that I like and spend my money on food and medicine like a normal person. Thanks Glenn!

I'm always blown away when he says "You just heard both. Did you even notice?" And then I think, nope. Not even close to noticing lol.

You really hit home about the Peavey amps.  They did a good job approximating an awesome sound for not very much money. And while most other companies have cheap amps that sound like dog crap and expensive ones that cost as much as your bassist's car, peavey's and bugeras just kick ass without making you feel like crap if you don't have $$$$

I've seen some of the Bugera 1960s model being asked for over $1k on Reverb recently. Some have been listed around $5-600. I also saw that Bugera is still manufacturing the 6262 and retailers are asking for $1100 + tax/shipping. Crazy shit.

I “settled” for the Soldano Astro 20. As someone who’s always had to play budget stuff and actually made it all work and sound great the SLO100 has always been on my bucket list. Just could never afford it. I saved up for the Astro 20 and love it.

With my band we've been using the Peavey Valveking combo 212 in 1 guitar and the head model for the other one. Nearly 10 years of service in war. We opened for Marduk, Bolzer, Heretoir and Inquisition with these amps and still going strong.

Side note: LTD Deluxe are forever guitars. I've exclusively played a used EC-1000 for years and it continues to be an amazing instrument that is super comfortable to play.

Thanks! Hope wife is doing great 🎉

I double dog dare you to put a Metal Zone in the effects loop and see what happens.

Getting into radio was the best thing that ever happened to my musical endeavors. RCA manuals change my life monthly for the past few years

Enjoy this type of content. As a home studio hobbyist and beginner (in Australia), thank you 🙏

Man, the POD tone. I swear every ad agency and cable network used one on everything they produced in the early 00's. From Ram trucks to Mythbusters.

The last 2 or 3 times I saw Martin Barre , he used a Soldano head with a single 12" Bare Faced speaker . ALL his TONE was there !

Nice Christopher Hitchens reference. “Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. “ 🤘🏼🤘🏼

"If speakers don't matter mic up your cab with a megaphone"

brb... lemme try something...
