I'm most surprised that anyone still thinks of their story as romantic.  Ugh.

We should all get down on our hands and knees to thank Wallace Warfield Simpson because if Edward had become King, we would be living in a different world.    —- and it would not be good.

The pinching happened to George VI. Mistreatment by his nanny also contributed to his stammer.

Edward viii (Duke of Windsor) was a morally bankrupt human being.

Edward VIII is called a traitorous king for a reason. He was a huge fan of fascism and after his visit to Germany and chat with Hitler and co H was ready to do anything to take over the crown again. Edward even suggested to Hitler that constant bombing in England would wear down the English people. Churchill and Roosevelt felt he needed to be kept an eye on and information stated that Edward was still meeting and corresponding with German agents etc and that was why he had been shipped off to the Bahamas. However this didn't stop Edward and Wallis from meeting agents in Miami where they went on weekend trips.. As far as i'm concerned Edward and Wallis deserved each other.

Edward' s younger brother, the future king George the 6, spoke of still missing his youngest brother, describing him as a sweet gentle boy

All. This self indulgent narcissis did just ONE thing right in his entire life:
Abdicate!
What a blessing that decision was.

Edward was NEVER crowned king. He renounced the throne Before the planned coronation.

Edward VIII was a selfish waste of oxygen and we need to thank Wallis Simpson for taking him away and leaving us with George VI and Elizabeth II.

Edward VIII was NEVER Crowned King (09.05). He became King immediately upon the death of his father, but Edward  never actually had a Coronation, therefore he was never Crowned King. That research is hardly difficult to verify. Pure laziness on the Narrator's part.

I believe you misspoke. Most of us know there was nothing this mess was a “love” story. England was blessed that he abdicated because it would have been terrifying had he been the king of England during wwii

She didn't fall in love with him. She tried to get out of it, but it was too late. She always loved Ernest

King Edward is just a vile human being.
Poor little Prince John..so sad that he died the way he did.

They hated each other.  They were miserable.  Wallace's letters and diary were discovered by her biographer who was pro Wallace until that point.  In it Wallace refers to Edward as Peter Pan - the boy who never wanted to grow up.  She continued to write to Ernest her husband who, together, used Edward for paid exotic excursions, and Wallace pretended to like him so she would get money and jewelry out of him.  She admitted in her letters that she hated Edward and wanted to return to Ernest, realizing he was he true love.  I don't know about what the narrator is looking at, but this comes directly from her personal letters and diary.  You will find the documentary here, where her official biographer reads these letters and diaries.

Edward was never crowned. Nor did Wallis want to marry him. He threatened to kill himself and put immense pressure on her to marry him.

Edwards abdication was a blessing for the UK and a nightmare for his shy brother.   He wanted the riches but none of the responsibilities of the monarchy.   He colluded with Nazis and was scheming to take the throne from his brother.  Wallis was actually desperate to get away from David but knew she would be even more hated if she left him.

there are so many things wrong with this
not sure the Simpson marriage was in trouble, Ernest knew exactly what was going on and he even bought the insurance on the jewelry David gave her. The two of them worked the social circuit, got wealthy people to provide them with food, housing, transportation.
She was never in love with David, didnt want to marry him, but the alternative was to go back to the US in disgrace. It all was so public, Ernest didnt have any choice but the divorce. And since Wallis had not worked a day in her life, she needed David to support her.

Every time I see the clip where he kisses Wallis,I can’t help but think she was repulsed by him.
You can see her visibly pull away. They sure as hell deserved each other.

I watched a you tube video about a year ago on the death of King George V. There was some interesting information that alluded to the fact that Edward was responsible for the death of his father. Regicide. There was enough information to make me think he had something to do with it. He wanted to be King, I know he backed the Nazis believing that they would place him as King of England, and he could have Wallis as well.   Edit. My bad, I had barely started the video when I made my comment, it does go on to explain his involvement with the Nazis.  If I remember right the Queen Mother begrudgingly allowed Edward to be buried at Frogmore, she really hated him. She believed that abdication weaken the throne. I remember about 20yrs before Queen Elizabeth died people started asking if the Queen would abdicate. They certainly skirted the issue in the media, and more than one person asked me if I thought she would abdicate. To note I am nobody of importance, it’s just my interest in the monarchy that made friends ask. I said she would never abdicate. Even in the last year or so of  Elizabeth’s life my daughter in law said she should step aside she’s just too old, again I said the Queen will never abdicate. She did her job to the best of her ability to the last.  I wonder if the Queen mother preferred her life prior to becoming Queen, probably, it was much less demanding.  However, for what it’s worth I believe we were given the gift of a much greater monarch in Queen Elizabeth. At least something came out of the mess that was Edward’s life. Sorry for the long rant. I can get a little carried away in discussing the royals.

History says that it was his brother Bertie(George VI) that the nanny was abusive to, Nanny apparently favoured David as he was once called by his family
