Talking about the Code of Chivalry: Hell yeah, feudal knights!

Talking about crushing civic disparity: Oh yeah, feudal knights....

This does have my consent, even tough you missed the Glorious empire by a few centimeters on the map.

Lady of the Lake: I'm giving my bath water for all you thirsty knights

@mollof7893 6 years ago

So knights do quests so they can drink the bath Water of their Godess.

I always had a problem with bretonnia's 90% tax, and how peasants are all inbred, etc. Because it's like someone took a passing glance of how feudalism worked and decided it wasn't grimdark enough, so they made Bretonnia an impossible society, I can understand wanting to make bretonnia darker, but surely there is a better way than making them a society that would crumble under its own incompetence?

“By the will of the Lady of the Lake, beneficent deity of all Bretonnia, by lance and by sword, are the lands of the King kept safe from Greenskins and the mutant Beastmen of the darkling forests, from malicious Daemons and the walking dead.....”

- The Goddess of Bretonnia

Stronger Words of Faith and Hope... that truly stand strong in the face of such Chaos.

I actually had a mind cannon after finding out the truth of the Lady during the End Times story line. The short version is that lords and ladies are almost worshiped by the peasants they lead. This worship empowers them, and higher nobles are in turn empowered even further by the fealty of the lesser nobles beneath them. The King and Queen are there for the most powerful people in the Kingdom, both personally and politically. The Lady is the culmination of every past Queen, and the Green Knight is the culmination of every past King. Because the Kings and Queens are about demigods the combination of their souls, not to mention the reverence and worship of an entire nation, has elevated these gestalt entities to true godhood.

Good work on mentioning the growing "middle class" of Bretonnia. It paints a much more complex picture of the dark fantasy setting of Warhammer Fantasy. I don't like it when the fans treat it as a pure grimdark setting.

"More efficient methods of governance." I wouldn't exactly call the Empire "efficient."

@Kapita_Lismus 6 years ago

Bretonnia is a fun mix of High Middle Ages France, Arthurian England and the plains of Hungary(to hold all the horses). Also the bretonnian fleet is 17th century based.

I want to see how the Skaven were able to defeat Bretonnia, the only reason they were able to defeat the Empire was because they took advantage of the sewers that ran through every single Imperial city, perfect for them, but Bretonnia has no such infrastructure as far as I'm aware
