I made these last weekend! My first time trying whoopie pies, and they were INCREDIBLE!

My daughter and I were talking about how much we love watching John teach us how to create his wonderful recipe’s. We declared John the Mr Rogers of cooking shows. We are not saying this lightly. He is always honest, thoughtful, caring, his attention to the details so we’ll be successful and his kindness shows in all his videos. How lucky his previous students were to have had him as a teacher. Now we are all benefiting from his YouTube cooking classroom. Thank you John! I am team caramel apple, but the pumpkin recipes are growing on me more and more. I just made a southwestern pumpkin and butternut squash soup that is one of my all-time favorite soups!!

John- these look amazing!  Funny story- I was raised by two Mainiacs- grew up 45 minutes from Amish country!  The whoopie pie recipe I grew up on is not “cakey” but chewy and oh so amazing…..my adult children ask for this over birthday cake!  An early memory for me is my Dad exclaiming “whoopie for whoopie pies!!!!!!”  Thanx- can’t wait to try your recipe!

I used to watch you so much when I was going through hard times in college. You just have the most calming and peaceful channel, and it was my safest space when I was really struggling. I used a different brand of purée other than Libby’s and live in a hot state with a hot kitchen so my batter was very runny. I saw a suggestion from another person to add 3/4 cup extra flour and that helped a lot! They smell so good, I can’t wait to assemble. Thank you for the recipe!
