IRL females wait at the finish line and pick up the winners. Anime females join the boy early on before wealth and fame and take the Hero's Journey with the boy as he grows into a man. This is why anime girls are so fascinating to men.

The west no longer grasps the concept that women can be both feminine and badass. In ZZZ there's a cool sword and shield female character who is attractive and considered one of the best fighters in her home. She's confirmed to be straight and desires a cute romance from mangas that she reads in secret. Twitter threw a fit about it because she wasn't a manly lesbian.

The brain chemical you're referring to -- that causes the bonding -- is oxytocin. It's largely responsible for creating bonds between mother and child and fostering feelings of connection between romantic couples. However, adult men produce less of it than women and children do.

This doesn't mean that men can't bond emotionally. One, men tend to produce more oxytocin during sex as opposed to during cuddling. Two, men experience the strongest bonds as a result of a different chemical called vasopressin, which is produced during stressful or high-energy situations. Vasopressin bonding is why men form such close ties to those with whom they've fought alongside in battle or competitive sports. It is also how fathers bond with their children during rough-and-tumble play.

This is why I much rather watch anime over most western media. Anime portrays masculinity and femininity as good and virtuous, particularly in shounen and shoujo anime.

Because they are cute, and have actual personalities, that do not consist of "Allow me to be as in-your-face as humanly possible."
That, and when they date boys, they date them because they genuinely like/love them, and not just because being with said boy would bring her material benefits.

cause anime in general is honest. it's pure in it's artistry instead of doing stupid crap in an attempt to prove a point that no one cares about. AKA it's simply based.
the rest is just a consequence of this.

Romance Anime is one of the only reasons I still have a soft spot for love, Western media would've completely killed any interest in love I have with how they describe and portray it.
