In this video, I’m watching The Thing (1982) for the first time — and wow, this movie completely lived up to its reputation.

Directed by John Carpenter and starring Kurt Russell, The Thing is pure paranoia, isolation, body horror, and practical-effects insanity.
But I also have to give out a very important award:
Best Dog Acting. 🐕🏆
Seriously, that dog understood the assignment.
And then there are the special effects. The creature transformations, gore, practical makeup, and all the disgusting little details are still incredible to look at decades later. This is exactly the kind of horror where the physical effects make everything feel more real and more disturbing.

This is one of Carpenter's few collaborative scores - here he works with master Ennio Morricone. John loves to score his own movies and synth is always a big part.
Some of his best work is on Big Trouble In Little China, also with Kurt. You get to hear John sing on that one too 😉
Good to see that your good taste isn’t limited to movie reactions!
