they use to start the Firecracker 400 at 10 o'clock in the morning because of the heat . but Talladega in August is by far the hottest race that i ever went to .

Like this if you came here for the World Lumberjack Championships and were disappointed.

I know that back in the day, those cars were rolling tombs, but wow, were they cool! Those drivers from that era were real tough guys—truly great drivers. They didn’t have all the mechanical assistance we see today. A driver's physical strength was just as important as their vision and dexterity. In short, every crew member was just as important as the driver himself.
I even remember that I could name the jackmen from Ricky Rudd’s or Waltrip’s Tide team, Bill Ingle from Bahari Racing, or even crew chief Bob Johnson, who was crew chief for Rick Mast in '91 and Chad Little in '92 under the Trop Arctic and Phillips 66 colors. And of course, Jeff Hammond, an excellent crew chief, and David Smith, Dale Sr.’s jack man and crew member.
Thanks to those 1991/92 Pro Set cards, I learned about all these members of the NASCAR world.
What I mean is that today, yes, safety almost guarantees that there won’t be any more deaths in NASCAR—unless there’s some truly, truly terrible luck—but I miss that era when the cars were real stock cars.

That short funny sounding guy is comical. Mine good at some things but obviously not in a (stock) car. Lol.

Keith Jackson totally mis-described the Pearson/Cale wreck of the '75 500.
