This week we headed over to The Caravan Place to take a look around the second hand caravan market and see what’s currently available.

We also had a great chat with owner Mark, who shared his thoughts on what the used caravan market is like right now, how prices are looking, and what buyers should be keeping an eye out for when searching for their next caravan.

If you’re thinking about buying a second hand caravan, this video is packed with useful advice and insight from someone who knows the industry inside out.

Let us know in the comments — are you looking to buy, sell, or upgrade this year?

Unfortunately we had a negative experience when we visited this dealer. We are new to caravanning and they had little or no interest in answering our questions, we asked about the hand over process to be sold we would be sent videos. Also enquired if the van came with carpets and was rudely told if they are not there then no. We won’t be going back, and to be honest they missed a sale because of their attitude as we went elsewhere and bought our first van.

Buying a caravan (my check list)
1) What can my current car safely tow?
2) Check for signs of damp
3) Check age of tyres
4) Check signs of repair / damage / wear / unusual smells / leaks
5) Check warranty period on offer
Then ignore 1-5 and buy what the wife wants!

Fantastic and helpful video. Really difficult choice. I like you Stacey was all in for Swift but ended up in a new Bailey which we love. Though last month we did go Caravan shopping to look at L shape and Transverse beds! 😂. Enjoy the search, wishing you both patience and don’t settle!

Good to buy nearly new, 1-3 years old, pay about ten grand less than new, but still get the remaining warranty 😊 there are some Bailey Pegasus models that would suit your wishlist, worth a look

If my boys were younger I'd go for a 2 single bed and make up the lounge as a double.

A view from experience :
Rear washrooms mean your boys will need to walk through your bedroom in the night.
Island bed with head end on the back wall. If you are 6 ft.+ your feet will hit the wash room wall.
Bear in mind that most fixed bed four berths are really aimed at couples. I believe there is a Buccaneer caravan similar layout to your existing caravan. Also if you have fixed bed four berth your boys will probably sleep in the lounge bed and will need to go to sleep before you are, so no where for you to sit.
Good luck and enjoy looking

I bought a swift celebration 2013 private from an elderly gentleman who refused a sale to allow us to purchase it has he felt we was the better suited.

He had the caravan from new and had service done every year and litterally treat it like a baby.

Was initally over our budget but was too good to walk away from.

We bought our first caravan private a few years back. We wanted a new 1 last year we looked at brand new 1,s. Then we spoke to the team at Chris jones leisure who had a chat and advised. Yeah it’s nice to get a brand new 1 however if you go used. Any of the warranty/recall jobs should have been sorted. We went with a 2023 Bailey phoenix 640. We absolutely love. It. You should check out the layout in the Elddis 868. They have a fixed double and bunk beds at the back. Lovely van
