I have shot sevrs pretty much exclusively for 5 years. I sharpen the tips as much as possible, and I have taken a belt sander to the deployment tabs to sharpen them. I quit doing the latter because I didn't see it changed anything. Those tabs have people worried, but they don't affect anything negatively. As for the o-rings I have had zero trouble. I've never broken one and never had one rott away. I understand why sevr goes for the stretch cut tip. It's to appease the rage in the cage community that thinks you need to have hatchet size entry holes. They would have never gained market share if people weren't posting huge entry wounds. Personally, some of the biggest blood trails I've ever seen on deer came with 1.5's. Also, most of the deer I shot with 1.5's runoff a little bit and stop. They run hard until they freaking die with the bigger heads especially if they can see the arrow sticking out of them.
The Hyde and whitetail furry from evolution outdoors are devastating! You did a great job on the video. They are super durable like you had said. Nice work keep up the good videos
I’ve had good luck with the Sevr 2.0 on whitetail. They have worked each time just like you explained. I do want to try the evolution broadheads Good job on explanation
I started using a 'belt quiver' years ago. The arrow that I use is kept behind the rear seat of my car, with an old vitamin jar over the blades, so it doesnt rip my car up.
Just wanted to let you know that you could use a band 1/2 the size with the sever to protect from premature opening. Because the blades do not slide back, and pivot open at a pivot point where by design the blade end actually weighs a tiny bit more, there’s no pressure to prematurely open except the wind resistance on the tabs. With rage and the other heads you have the weight of the blades being launched at 300FPS, trying to slide back into the open position. With that being said I’ve had incredible results (And so have our entire hunting group in Illinois). We have tried to destroy the SEVR’S, shooting through the shoulders of does, and have had incredible results. I’ve also used the beast titanium 100gr on a 150lb hog really liked it as well. I’ll try using more Beast’s on some big does in the Midwest this year! Will be using the SEVR’S buck hunting until we do a little more testing with the Beast’s! GOOD LUCK HUNTING THIS YEAR!
I killed a bull with a severe this year it worked great broke through the ribs the elk went about 40 yards on a run then dropped dead I never had been a fan of mechanical heads till a co worker talked me into trying the severe it worked great.
Those SEVRs are nasty guys. Killed 2 deer last year with them. One broadhead had a set screw in it. Stupid mistake but recovered that deer and a buck of a lifetime with them. I would recommend those broadheads to anyone.
Another "pro" about the Hyde is that it's modular. You can get the Jekyll blades and make it a fixed blade head. So, you can technically have a 2 in 1 head. Depending on your needs.
