Excellent review. Many thanks. The route does seem unduly sinuous - adding to route length, construction costs and journey times. However it is great to see this line being revived.

If they can pull all that off it'll be a monumental achievement. This would be transformational connecting Bedford to Cambridge eventually by rail. The rail projects in Bedford will be contentious & very disruptive once that starts but Bedford needs rail improvements when it only has one main station.

I want to believe that the Bicester to Cambridge section will be built. But with the experience of HS2, I'm not getting my hopes up.

Hopefully the 'temporary' connection from the East Coast mainline to EWR will become permanent. The main reason for keeping it would be for freight services.

i like the proposal for Cambridge East but I would add that the line beyond towards Bury St Edmunds is crying out for additional services - I also seem to remember in the earlier proposals for EWR, services were intended to operate beyond Cambridge as express services towards Norwich and Ipswich and it's a shame that those have been given up on.

Informative video as always!

As a future user, I love your content! Now if only the DfT and Chiltern Railways could agree staffing levels, we could have the western section running.

The best of the series (so far). Excellent and informative.

Thanks for this. Great to know it's all coming closer to reality. I like the idea of high level platforms at Tempsford - much better than the original plan for the lines to merge there. Also good to finally see the exact proposed location for Cambridge East. I think CE would be massively useful to that area even if EWR ends up not going ahead.

Great review with a lot of information. Thank you. Let's hope this comes off, as East/West travel in this country is dire.

The section from Bicester to Bletchley hasn’t exactly recently opened to passengers. Nearly two years and no trains is embarrassing for EWR

The pylon diversion are included in this new line construction

Great summary of the route. I hope it gets approval soon. I feel like it doesn't get the attention it deserves, perhaps because it's a bit overshadowed by HS2. It's a pretty big undertaking.
