It is so great to have a solid resource for Australian Law in the YouTube verse. So much of what is uploaded here is American and does not apply to Oz. This is a very valuable channel for Aussies.

I think what you do is so important for Australians; we live in an americanised culture. Like friendlyjordies, we need content creators who centre Australian politics, Australian law, Australian culture. I’ve known since I was maybe 11 that we don’t have freedom of speech, we have an implied right which I believe is more to do with journalism, but the amount of Australians who will quote the American constitution has baffled me for decades. I’ve seen the legal system as a victim, and on the side of a perpetrator (not myself), and again, the amount of presumptions people make regarding our legal system who simply won’t be told different - we need more ppl reaching our communities with accurate information. FYI, can you drop the charges video sparked a 30min argument with a career criminal before we even pressed play because TV. We broke up lol.

hope this covers a couple of coffee’s ☕️ thanks for a great relaxed video and explaining how you got here. Some of the stories you shared without giving details away were sad. That poor mum and that masseuse…just those moments that can change a life. Thanks James

I did learn one thing as a prosecutor was " A good lawyer knows the law , a great lawyer knows the judge " 😅

Good video mate. Very much enjoy what you do and the “simple” explanations.

Q4 and Q7 - what horror stories for the poor people involved. Glad you highlight things like this.

Thank you James. I have "Hyped" your video. As a very average suburban law-abiding aussie citizen - you see or hear of average suburban people running foul of the law over time and it's a hot mess. Things like "freedom of speech" and other laws etc we have become very ingrained with American legalities through the media but not of our own, or the lack thereof. Cases that come to mind such as Andrew Mallard and Lindy Chamberlain and others that made it to the media. And there must be many more that don't make it to the media.

Thank you for all that you are doing...having been married to a lawyer in another lifetime, I know how hard it is to do more than the job in a partnership organisation...I totally appreciate your honesty and your integrity, and all the additional work you are putting in as an act of public service.

18:49 The real crux of this question is the idea that the police / state wants to have an unfair advantage over regular people. To suggest one should not betray their colleagues on the prosecution side, really is to betray the public, so that’s a deeply concerning worldview for someone to have.

I love all the stuff you post and its a great resource. A lot of the laws we live under are not very well explained until people break them. Theres a lot of that stuff in life that we just dont teach people properly. You are doing an amazing work here.
