Synopsis
Jodie Foster stars as Clarice Starling, a top FBI training academy student. Jack Crawford (Scott Glenn) wants Clarice to interview Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins), a brilliant psychiatrist who is also a violent psychopath, serving life behind bars for various acts of murder and cannibalism. Crawford believes that Lecter may have insight into a case and that Starling, as an attractive young woman, may be just the bait to draw him out.

I appreciate that you pause the film when you get into your longer analyses. Other reaction channels just keep talking over the movie and it’s really frustrating because they miss important dialogue then complain later that they don’t understand something about the plot 🙄

Anthony Hopkins said ‘an Oscar for 16 minutes onscreen? Bet.’

Contrary to recent statements made by a person who shall remain nameless, the “late, great” Hannibal Lecter is not, in fact, a real person 😂

When someone is getting a PhD, it’s less like school at that point and more like you’re working in the field under supervision from a professional. FBI academy is essentially the same thing. Upon coming up on their graduation from the academy, the FBI start to assign the trainee’s work alongside an experienced agent so that they’re field-ready by the time they graduate.

Anthony Hopkins And Jodie Foster both win Academy awards (Oscars) for this movie

I've looked through the comments and didn't find one with a tiny bit of info that will make you appreciate Foster's acting even more.

Look again at the basement scene where he's following her with night vision goggles on. They could have shot it with night vision. Sure. But they didn't. They just put a green filter on the lense. How do we know? When Buffalo Bill reaches out for her, there's a shadow on her back. That doesn't happen in the dark. Jodie's face and eyes played "lost in the dark" in full lighting. Part of why she got that Oscar.

This movie and Se7en are two of the smartest thrillers I've ever seen.

Yes! It IS the reaction i expect at the end of this movie😅😊

Hannibal Lecter is a psychiatrist, not a psychologist. He is an MD. When he's talking about coveting and coveting things we see everyday, he's giving her the clue that Buffalo Bill knew at least his first victim. That would give her a place to start. That's what she and her friend figure out.

Also, remember he mentions The Belvedere in their first meeting. The first girl and Buffalo Bill are from a town called Belvidere.

I think he makes the comment to the Senator about her suit because he knows what Buffalo Bill is doing with the skins.

God i love this ending 😂❤

Hannibal was intrigued by Clarence. She was a little female, but she was determined to save victims. She ignored her fears, and the sexism and disrespect did not deter her. She came back even after what happened in the first meeting. He wanted to see why she was who she was. He also wanted to manipulate the situation so he could escape.

He was a psychiatrist, not a psychologist. Big difference

The best part of watching this with you was when you realized who Hannibal was having as “an old friend for dinner“ amazing laugh straight from the toes through the belly out of the mouth of your soul. I do so enjoy your reactions to the movies you review. I have seen every one of the movies That you have reviewed. What made me join this channel and next month when my Social Security check comes in I will be a Patreon is because of your spirit and the wonderful way you see the small but beautiful things in the creation of film. You’re nothing like I’ve ever seen on any YouTube channel. Many blessings to you. And if I could afford one of your paintings I would buy it today. So I’ve made up my mind that I will, set aside five dollars a month maybe 10 if I can afford it so that I may buy your print of the wolf. It is my spirit animal as an indigenous, Alaskan woman. many blessings to you going forward. You are a great asset to the world. May your life be long and well blessed.
