This isn't a hack. This is common sense. If you do part of the work yourself you don't pay a surcharge to someone else to do it.

This is not a hack . It's called buying bulk and processing

You guy make it seem like your going to buy a vacuum sealer everytime. 😂

‘You can get steaks for under $12/lb’

Not from a rib roast that’s $15/lb 😂

I eat Costco steaks 3-4 times a week. I buy the slabs, cut, seal and, freeze just like you guys were learning. My wife and I got this down to a science and we love it.

Gotta use the fat to make tallow. So more bang for buck.

Good news is you don't have to buy a vacuum sealer every time you do this lol

Trim the hard fat after you slice the steaks so you can see how much your cutting off

Cutting ribeye is extremely easy and in my opinion very calming and fun!

Little tip to help if your planning on freezing afterwards, par freeze the roast before cutting.

It makes cutting the roast easier and you can get cleaner and more consistent cuts.

I’m currently having a panic attack watching this rib roast get butchered

@johnlarson505 1 month ago

You clearly cooked one steak longer. That doesn’t seem like a fair comparison.

Using the trimmed fat to make beef tallow is an option as well so it's not entirely wasted. One slab might yield like a 12-16 oz jar. Fun video.

Our local meat market, if you buy the whole strip loin/rib loin/tenderloin, they will cut it into steaks for you and whatever they trim off you get back in ground chuck. Best deal I've found other than buying a 1/2 of freezer beef.

If you put the whole sub-primal in the freezer for half an hour before you cut it, it will go so much more smoothly. And you can cut off the fat from the cap after you've cut your steaks so you can see how much fat you're removing for each one. Save the fat for tallow, and the beef trim for sausage making.

The meat shop one was "wet aged" in the vacuum packs it was in. Also, the doneness was noticably different. Not really a fair comparison

08:10 watching this I have to say, I wish I had a big ass sink like that too. I live in a small apartment, with a small kitchen, and my sink is so small, I can't even properly fit a cutting board in it, let alone wash my hands properly in it.

@frankfeng123 1 month ago

it's even better when the entire pack is on sale for like $50 off, i always buy them when it's like that, even if i already have one in the freezer 🤣🤣

This is something I've been wondering about for some time now, and I really appreciate the good review! In my view though, you need to season the steaks before grilling, could be a time issue, cause seasoning a day ahead of the cook is optimum.
