For some reason, the Hydra in DS1 terrifies me. The way it hovers over you is horrible.

For me, there was quite a bit of existential horror that came from Ash Lake. It’s a beautiful area don’t get me wrong, but it’s reveal with the choir in the background makes you feel so very small. Same thing for the Kiln and Dreg Heap.

As for more explicit horror, Demon’s Souls 3rd World struck me worse than actual horror games. I was more frightened to proceed in that than i was in Visage or Silent Hill PT

love fromsofts horror but i will say its mostly in bloodborne as for some reason all the darksouls games and elden ring have this goofy atmosphere about them idk how to describe but i know you know what i mean

Great video. Great narration/script. My only critique is your transitions are too jarring. I would advise using something much more subtle.

Scariest location for me was by far Tomb of The Giants. The massive coffins combined with the total darkness and the eyes of the giant skeletons being the only thing you see in the dark really made me scared to keep exploring it on my first run and to cap it all off Gravelord Nito's design and intro cutscene are so unsettling.

Love this video! I was surprised you didn't mention the hand babies in DS3, those scare me more than any other enemy in the whole series... The fact that they are never mentioned in any item description, appear only in one area, and the fact that they are the only enemies in the series to drain your souls with an attack... not to mention the sounds and their design

The bonus creepiness of the Dark Lurkers in DS2 is that the touch light casts their shadows on the walls behind them, making it look like there are more than there really are..

I get it, the soulsborne games are Fromsofts most known games but i was half expecting Fromsofts actual Horror games to be here or mentioned.

An enemy that always gives me the creeps are the Raptor Dogs in Elden Ring. They look so ruthless, bloodthirsty and uncanny thst it gives me prima fear. Also the Caelid ambiance music just stresses me out too much 😭

Mr.X / Nemesis type enemy?
They did something similar in Dark Souls 2 with the Pursuer. Of course he just spawns in specific areas.

I'd say the wretch is a highlight for me. It's that particular type of non-threatening horror you don't see a lot of. It also has you fighting between "burn it" and feeling sorry for it. Horror when paired with another emotion is just the best. It's also that after the fact horror of not noticing would be danger. Like the monster was in the room the entire time but chose not to let itself be known. A threat you wouldn't see coming if it chose to do something.
