A record of the construction of the Tenryu River Sakuma Dam, then the largest dam in Japan, symbolizing post-war economic recovery. "Construction Records from Spring 1953 to the End of 1954" (Part Two)

The Sakuma Dam, which dams the Tenryu River and boasts a magnificent and imposing landscape, is of high historical value as a major dam that had a significant impact on the civil engineering industry by being the first in Japan to introduce large-scale civil engineering machinery. It was completed in just three years from the start of construction in 1953. Furthermore, its average annual power generation of 1.4 billion kWh is one of the largest among general hydroelectric power plants in Japan.
