One of my favorite things about Barry Sanders is that he never celebrated after his touchdowns. He just handed the ball to the official and walked back to the sideline.
Horsecollar tackles, hip-drop tackles, and you could basically hit anyone as hard as you want anywhere you want. That was the NFL when Barry did all of this. And then he retired at almost the peak of his game - because he just didn't feel it anymore. The definition of a legend.
It brings me great joy to watch those of the younger generations watch Barry Sanders highlights and understand why we were in the edge of our seats whenever he touched the ball.
Im 49 years old and lived near Detroit my whole life. I've been a Lions fan my whole life I can honestly say he's the best running back I've ever seen period. No one and I mean no one can make moves like that man. He's humble too. He doesn't dance, he doesn't talk trash, he just gives the ball to the ref, hugs his teammates and that's it. I can't express into words what he means to Lions fans. He is the franchise period.
