Following everything that’s happened recently with Emma’s health, we’ve been reminded that time is precious. It’s made us reflect on why we chose this lifestyle in the first place, and why we’d still choose van life over a traditional house.

In this episode, we’re sharing the honest reasons why van life has given us more freedom, more memories and a simpler way of living. This isn’t about saying houses are bad—it’s about explaining why this life has been the right one for us.

Whether you’re dreaming of van life, curious about downsizing, or simply questioning the path society expects us to follow, we hope this video gives you something to think about

This is great information. I love how Emma took care of Reese when he did his duck charity marathon and now Reese is taking care of Emma. This is another reason van life works so beautifully. It’s good to see Daisy’s got her feisty, little angry potato personality back! Wishing you all good health and getting back to your beloved adventures. ❤

For those with chronic fatigue or similar: You two are an inspiration. Thank you for showing chronic illness honestly. I couldn't do full time van life alone as just driving to a place can wipe me out for days. Couldn't afford a van. It pees me off greatly that I can't zoom up to Scotland or explore Europe. But, there is so much beautiful nature within an hour from me. I have a micro camper (Berlingo type) with a single bed that I can jump in for a power nap (and a brew) when it hits! The car is a den & a sanctuary. You dont have to tour... think smaller & you don't have to miss out. I can pootle about locally. I converted our car while my late husband was having chemo. We made precious memories. I drove us to our lockdown wedding in it. Even parking up by our local canal is beautiful, i could be anywhere! Pootling for the win!

We are parked up on a $2.2 million property, get to have the life you dream of and helping someone else pay for their dream home.

I am the same Emma with my cancer diagnosis, the kids want me in a house, but my safe place where I am happy is in my bus. I am a few steps from the kitchen, the fire, and 3m from the bathroom, perfect if you are poorly.

You two are soo refreshing and did a great job here. There's no ego or need to lecture so your words carry more weight. I'm 50 in a house and just need the courage to change things up, whether it's vanlife or similar. Taking the leap seems to be the hardest part. God bless x

I live full time in my truck. My daughter and grandchdren have been staying the last few weeks. I am grateful my wagon can accommodate us all. It's more challenging parking with children. I have a Julca hot tap water heater so we have been showering ourside. The children now regard the truck as a yellow fire truck that belongs to them now 😂😂😂 loving the summer days and grateful for family . Love to us all 🙏🥰🌻

Love this episode, it’s gone on so much more of a phonological tangent than I thought we were tuning in for. Brilliant!
I’m now going in deep… Our physical possessions could remain long after we are dust. We can spend our lives amassing & gathering objects but they’re not “ours”
I still work ,thankfully a rewarding job,. I rent so I don’t feel tied only in that respect but it’s always in my mind that this is not the life I am supposed to live. I need to get on with the actual living part of being here.
I envy your time in this space. All the best ❤️

If you want to sleep out under the stars, you should try it first while the weather is still good. That's when it's best. Pick a warm dry night with a clear sky. Avoid the midges though as that can be torture. I've slept out hundreds of times and love it. Happy trails. Hope you recover soon Emma. Best wishes.
