Hello everyone it appears that i had made one little mistake on the video. The birthplace of Toivo was Vyborg to St petersburg as i erroneously stated in the video.

This video was awesome because of the history, please do more like this!

Hey, Mikko. I think this was every bit as good as the classic minnow-style bait you made years ago in the style of Lauri Rapala. It reminds me, too, of the session in which you made a traditional Finnish bait from tree bark and the one where you trimmed another minnow-style lure with feathers, as your Finnish brethren used to. I fear that very few modern-day anglers have any sense of the rich history that lies behind the tackle they use today. As always, I wish you had actually taken your Toivo replica out fishing, under real conditions,, to test its effectiveness. That's what he would have done. All the best, Chris (Maine, USA)

I have watched this video 4 times now because I have searched for a video making lures like this so this is my fav video.

I now know that i have the same name as the creator of rapala, and i make lures too.

Thank you for this! Ive tried to read up on Toivo Pylväläinen ever since you mentioned him in one of your pine bark videos. Couldn't find much stuff.

On the subject of foiling lures, using either aluminium tape or copper tape means you can just stick them to the lure, no need to glue them yourself.

Mikko, this video was awesome!! I love seeing how things get started and seeing where they are today. Thanks for sharing!!

Lovely lure and craftsmanship. Really enjoy the way you walk through the process and listening to your tips. Thanks heaps for sharing.

I love it ! Great workkk

You can really tell the similarities with Mr. Lauri legendary lure at the end. Stunning material as always man. Can't wait for your next upload :)

I really had know idea about finish lure history, Its crazy how little has changed.

Outstanding as usual-my favorite type of video- lure making homage with historical context of pioneering artists that are not well known. Beautiful job! What did he use for epoxy back then?

This would destroy zander at night where I'm fishing.

I think I need to try foiling! The look is classic. Nice build of a Finnish heirloom.

Not only was this another fantastic video showcasing your incredible skills as a lure maker. But the added history behind the lure was a great touch. Even your through wire was a work of art. Thanks for sharing.

Very cool video Mikko! Awesome history behind it all. I enjoy seeing how ingenious it all comes together.

Very good job, thank you for taking the time to put this together

I really enjoyed this Finnish history lesson. I do wonder what happened to the cafeteria lady and her baby. The first hook placement is fascinating. Have we all been doing it "wrong" for years? I also began researching the Cork Tree which happens to be a Mediterranean Oak. This means there had to be a good deal of trade between the Iberian countries and Sweden in order to make life jackets.

I very admire your work and craftsmanship, always a pleasure to watch your videos.
