If you’re doing an ATX conversion on a Power Mac G5 or an older Mac Pro, you may want to keep and reuse the original Apple fans instead of replacing them with standard PC fans.

In this video, I go through several Apple fan connectors and show how to adapt them to a regular 4-pin PC motherboard fan header. I cover the pinouts, wiring options, and the analog fan-control method used by many older Apple fans.

Fans covered include:
Mac Pro 1,1 through 5,1, 25mm and 38mm fans
Power Mac G5 GPU cooler with speaker
Power Mac G5 rear CPU fans
Power Mac G5 front CPU cooler

If you’re building a Power Mac G5 or Mac Pro ATX conversion, hopefully this helps you keep the original Apple cooling hardware working with a modern motherboard.
If you have questions, corrections, or another piece of Apple hardware you’d like to see adapted, leave a comment below.
