As a a plus-sized person who is also disabled, I prefer the body neutrality ideology better than the body positivity one. It's okay to be tired of your body, it's okay to not always "love" it but just accept it. It's okay to have neutral feelings towards your body... I think it's far more healthy and good in the long run.

thin ice? sounds skinnyphobic

I think that the problem is that Samyra is mixing between advocating for body inclusivity and advocating for her own life choices, which might not be always the best.

It tickles me when she says “I ran Harvard” because it’s giving every bit of “I RUN LA” à la Natalie Nunn

You sure she’s not just rage baiting at this point?

I meam she's mostly right, fatphobia is RAMPANT rn. But i think just calling it out and not promoting constructive criticism, positivity or neutrality is just rage bait to make her money

As a plus-sized woman, I personally believe that it is important to point out the small ways that fatphobia shows up. Samyra’s delivery makes people feel frustrated, or like she is annoying, because she is plus-sized herself. Her entire point is all of the little ways that fatphobia shows up around us that we may not ever think of. I have seen people smaller than Samyra make the same points as her, and not garner even HALF the hate that she gets on a daily basis. I feel like if people find her annoying, or like she is doing too much, then don’t interact with her. It’s always the people that hate her that are down in the comments of her videos complaining instead of just blocking her. I love that Samyra is loud about what she believes in because believe it or not, dismantling fatphobia can help EVERYONE!

“Girl this sounds like dookie” took me out and stole my breath, I laughed so hard!

I find it so weird when people flex that they went to an Ivy League (or when other people say “well she must know more than you about x bc she went to Harvard”, which I’ve seen in comment sections) when they’re making a fool of themselves or being anti-intellectual. Not even just Samyra, but in the political sphere people bring up figures and commentators like Tucker Carlson graduating from prestigious schools. To me, idgaf where you graduated from or what your grades were 10+ years ago if you’re using your education in a harmful or just stupid way

I hate agreeing with her but really, can we stop putting skinny tags on food?

I worked for Starbucks when they came out with the skinny lattes and people took that as permission to make comments to the baristas. I will never forget having a teenager burst into tears because some AH told her "Looks like you haven't been drinking the skinny lattes".

help layzey being on the dik hopkins cover too i cant lmao

She’s allowed to call out this stuff? Fatphobia is systemic and around us in ways that people don’t normally realize.

Idk a lot of stuff has underlying fatphobia(even the most inconspicuous stuff), she has a point. She's needed.

Samyra is smart, a decent singer, and engaging to watch. I think her career would be doing way better if she would drop all the rage bait. That’s all her recent content has been.

"Shaming someone into action creates acting. Inspiring someone into action creates change."

22:51 again, she HAS A POINT!! why is it called “SKINNYLICIOUS” when health conscious, “low cal bites”, “Lighter Eats”, Leafy Treats exist. Soo many other names, damn like nobody said that these options SHOULDNT exist but they shouldn’t associate skinny with good or health because that is harmful. Thats why we have so many emaciated hollywood stars

NOT THE COMMERCIAL I GOT DURING AN AD BREAK BEING THE CARDI B OLD NAVY ONE LMAOOOO

I think people are a little too comfortable dismissing her ideas just because they don't like her...

Idk, she doesn’t always word her point in the best way but I honestly agree with her on all of these things. Fatphobia is extremely ingrained in our society and shows up in small ways that people who haven’t outright experienced Fatphobia don’t always notice. Like that store mannequin was genuinely ridiculous, it IS an indicator of a larger societal mentality that Cheescake Factory specifically called their lower calorie menu section “skinnylicious” and just in general the rise in extremely low calorie food and condiment products in stores that always have the word “skinny” somewhere in the name.

She may not always go about things in the best way (like bothering an employee about prices they can’t control) but you can’t deny that a huge chunk of the criticism she gets IS just also Fatphobia, there are plenty of thinner creators that talk about these things and are praised for bringing awareness to these issues.
