Because the ferment feed is easily digested and the poop less because the are absorbing almost all the food.
Its amazing.

The fermented water is full of nutrients too. I add a little extra dry feed at the end of fermentation so that it soaks up the water and they can eat it too without it going to waste.

You do not need that special ferment jar. It is very costly. Just use any jar, with or without a lid. If the jar has a lid DO NOT screw it down or the jar will explode with the carbon dioxide gas that is generated from the ferment. Just place the lid on top. If the jar does not have a lid use a piece of cardboard or cloth or wood. What ever you have. Or use a plastic bucket instead of a jar. Back in the 1800's people would ferment pickles to store the cuc's over winter. They were fermented in a wooden barrel with a wooden lid.

For those who are not familiar with fermentation, you do not need to use the fermentation lid. You can use any glass container and do the same thing by putting a coffee filter and rubber band over the top. The purpose would be to keep out flies in particular fruit flies, I have been making sauerkraut for 40 years that way, with no problems. I do appreciate this video so much. I have not fermented my chicken food and I am going to give it a try thank you for the encouragement.

Try dumping it in a container the majority of your feed soaked into the ground.

Feed that fermented feed and water in a container … that water has a ton of nutrients and in the summer will help keep them hydrated … no waste !

Sprouting your seeds and grains is also a wonderful way of feeding them.

Thanks for informing people.
Remove chlorine from water + adding beneficial microbes improves nutrient availability.

A feeding trough was missing to carry the fermentation to the chickens.

Cool man. Glad you discovered the greatness of fermented chicken feed! Just released a video about a month ago on the same topic on my channel. God bless you! Cheers 🍻

Yep, my girls love the fermented! They even eat the liquid.

Thank you for adding scripture at the end of your good advice, caring for His creation

Your fermentation jar is wonderful but I do my fermentation in 5 gallon plastic buckets. I’ve got about 60 chickens, both meat and egg producers.  I just drill a ring of small holes in the very top ring of the buckets and in the bottom, clean very well to make sure there is no plastic left in the buckets, place in a second bucket with no holes, fill with grain about half way, add water, stir, snap on the lid and let it ferment for 3-4 days.  Winter I let it go 5-7.  I will lift and swirl the buckets around a few times a day or take the kids off once daily and stir. When I feed the fermented grain I just lift the bucket a few inches and let the water drain back into the lower bucket.

Being a maker of sour mash clear likker most of my life, I have always fed the unsaved portion of my fermented grains (corn, malted rye, malted barley) to my chickens and Turkey's. They love it and really thrive on it.

There's a lady with a video where she just ferments in a bucket, takes out what she feeds them that day and adds enough dry feed and water to replace it

If you use the fermentation lid it will create alcohol.  Yeast will create alcohol in the absence of oxygen.  If it gets oxygen it will just create CO2.  A bucket with a screen on top is all you need.

It’s a fact that happy chickens lay eggs. Any stress slows it down . IE if a weasel comes around, no eggs

When we bought feed from local stores, our egg production went to little or no eggs.  Bought feed from local farmers and egg production came back.  I don't trust the stores now.

True, the nutrition increases.  When you soak and sprout seeds or beans, they quickly multiply in nutrients.

What an incredible contribution to my life… and that of the chickens… Thank you so much!
