Park Rash in the Yorkshire Dales is one of those roads that looks spectacular on camera — but riding it can be a very different experience!

In this video I ride to Park Rash from Kettlewell and revisit the spot where I dropped my Triumph Tiger.

It happened three years ago, just four days before I was due to have surgery. I had no phone signal, couldn't lift the bike and was beginning to wonder how I was going to get myself and the bike out of there!

Fortunately, after around 20 minutes, four Belgian motorcyclists came along and helped me get the Tiger back on its wheels.

So this isn't just another ride through the Yorkshire Dales. I'm revisiting a road with a bit of personal history and talking about what happened — and why a road that looks like a great motorcycle ride can sometimes bite back.
Not only that, it's also where, a year later I was to shoot my first ever video for this channel!
And if that wasn't enough I also got chased by a cow! Also on video!!

Many years ago, I was riding a company Kawasaki GT550, making a delivery in the centre of York. I was in a paved area doing a U-turn when I went to knock it up into second, missed the gear and hit neutral instead. Next thing I knew, I’d dropped the bike. That bike had huge, flat panniers, and when it hit the ground it made an almighty BANG. Literally everybody turned to look. I was absolutely mortified. 😂 Then a group of Japanese tourists came running over to help me pick it up. As soon as they realised it was a Kawasaki, they got really excited and ended up posing for photos with the bike! 😂 So what started as one of my most embarrassing biking moments somehow turned into a Kawasaki photo opportunity for a group of tourists. 😂

I ride this road all the time, 3 weeks ago I saw a 2 stroke going up it from a distance and he caught the road taking the hairpin to tight and came tumbling back down, we stopped at the top and walked back to help him. You have to take it wide so pray for no incoming traffic. Also on our Harleys just after the cattle grid at the top, the cows chased us too 😂 common theme.

I'm sure I've watched one of your videos where you mentioned dropping your bike & yeah I remember the cow incident too I think that road has it in for you but its worth it for the views you're very lucky to have all that on your doorstep

When I bought my CFMOTO 250 Dual the seller lived in a spot like that and I declined the offer of a test ride because of the challenging roads and the fear of dropping the bike. Some of the hills I was in first gear in the car. I brought the bike home in my estate car, so I never did get to ride on those roads.

I'd forget about you mentioning this. But I don't think you told me about the cow chasing incident. Kowasaki per chance? It must have been mooooving.

I’ve ridden that road many times, my friend that I used to ride with who unfortunately is no longer with us would never go up the hill would only come downhill.
Oh yes the cows and the cow muck you have to dodge but still a fantastic road to ride.
