Honestly, if a recast had to happen I think this is the best possible scenario for it. Because in the first book you only see her for one second before Harry gets on the train. She doesn’t become a more important character until the second book so I’m glad it happened now rather than middle of season 2 or later

She seemed so excited for this role. That's one of the reasons this is a bummer. But hopefully she's alright.

With an announcement like that, personally my mind went to either a health issue with herself or a family member that makes filming difficult, or a change in mind on what she wants to do. The statement talks about future opportunities but doesn’t actually specify in acting. There are plenty of child actors that after filming something like a tv series or film realize they don't want to devote THAT much of their life to this and want to go to school normally or pursue a different career. Though the possibility it's related to a health situation seems stronger with the "unforseen circumstances". So i sincerely hope she and her family are all in good health and doing well.

Literally the ONE casting choice that was literally perfect with no complaints and she's gone. Wow.

I hope she’s doing fine mentally

I was shocked when i heard the news, on the other hand is better now than after season 2

MY JAW DROPPED AT THE TITLE.

She was so excited, hopefully her and her family are doing alright and she is having the right mental support.

Man, Gracie was one of my most hyped castings. Hope she’s doing well and that HBO can find a girl that exudes Ginny as much as Gracie did

This is devastating… She was one of the best cast actors in the entire show

"Gracie is very excited about the opportunities her future holds.”
That phrasing in the statement makes it sound like she was offered another part somewhere else. Usually when actors drop out of one commitment it is so they can take on another role somewhere else.

Damn she looks like she came out of the books...

I hope something really bad didn't happen. Was really looking forward to seeing Gracie as Ginny in season 2.

I'm super sad too. I agree that she absolutely embodied the character of Ginny. Every time I saw the clip of her tilting her head, smiling, and being a little goofy felt like looking at Ginny.

Tbh that kind of fame can be really hard on any child, maybe her parents just want to protect her after all the terrible things that happens with child actors, I hope she can find peace and grow happy and healthy 💖🕊

bro i literally just saw the news of her being recast and not even 5 mins later you upload this 😭

3:50 You're actually the first person I've seen wishing that her and her family are okay. Stepping away from a show like this, that would have made you a household name, is not a decision anyone would take lightly so I just hope they're all okay and wish the best for Gracie. I was really excited to see her as Ginny Weasley and I really hope people give the new Ginny a chance and don't compare her to Gracie too much.

It's a real shame. Looking at her casting, you could see her growing up and becoming the book Ginny that was absent from the movies

I'm sad that she won't be returning for Season 2. From what you showed us, it seems she would have made an amazing Ginny.

She is not a main character but is an important character throughout. She understands Harry instinctively and  the development of her own personality (without Harry) is really interesting to read about,  she’s a part of the most important family in this story.
I too hope the reason is genuinely hers and to her advantage and not bullying or something else harmful.

This would’ve been devastating if it happened anytime after season 2 I wish her the best
