The fact those USB-C power leads are allowed to be made is disgraceful.

19v only USB C connector is insane. Yes most people here know that you should not plug in 19v in your 5v phone but give this to a non technical person and they will without hesitating try to charge their phone with it.

that fake USB-C is shockingly bad! As you say, it shouldn't exist. Nice simple fix, rewarding :)

The Paul Daniels power meter... I liked it, not a lot, but I liked it! 🤣

The mini PC has a normal USB C socket as well as the power input jack. If the cursed power supply is plugged into the normal USB C socket, I would imagine fireworks ensue. This really is an accident waiting to happen.

3:43 Gotta love, that they could not even be bothered to remove the "Center Positive" marking next to the Power Input after changing it from barrel-jack to USB-C.

"They also function as a poor man's LCR meter. "
Great idea! 😊

Very nice, you are one of the few repair techs that would attempt fixing a mini-computer, the customer should put a red label, saying Minisforum HM80 only on the power supply. I agree with you 100%, if they didn't want to pay for the proper usb C power delivery, they should have used a barrel connector.

Brilliant video and narrative. Thanks 👍

great video, nice explanation, good work

Nice to hear you say that some of your recent jobs have been outside of your skill level. Makes me feel better about the dead laptops I have sitting on my workbench that I am struggling with. Thanks for the videos :)

You are a genus.   Great work.

Cheers! Fantastic repair job.   🤩 Thank you for some educational troubleshooting.

Great video as usual!

This is my second Minisforum repair of the evening. My UM790 Pro has a 19V barrel jack.

I didn't know about this device so I saw it with marked interest. Excellent repair. A sincere congratulations. Thank you very much for sharing. All the best.

Lovely work Graham, nice to watch you work thru the problem and fix it :)

Nice not to have to go down rabbit hole for a change :)
