"The real problem of humanity is the following: we have Palaeolithic emotions, medieval institutions, and god-like technology."  E.O. Wilson

Geoffrey is so smart. Love it!

Good evening Mcdonald Institute and Geoffrey
Brilliant.
Again truly grateful for your shared Wisdom.
Thank you Kindly.
💜

Really appreciate the insights in this video.

This is masterful! Thank you

First and foremost, a huge thank you to McDonald Institute for acknowledging our Indigenous communities and for sharing this talk. I also wish to thank McDonald Institute for continuing to provide enlightening talks on a social media platform where LLM/AI generated slop is replacing the top 10000 or so priceless and enlightening science videos that are listed when using YouTube's search feature or when YT's algorithms make suggestions about what to watch. Deeply disheartening is the fact that the costs/harmful effects of AI/LLMs may be outpacing the benefits.

Thank you for the knowledge this was great and easy to follow.

I already watched other Prof. Geoffrey talks so my attention drifted off and on from the familiar topics, but the sign language   performance was entertaining from start to end.

this is really the best thing i watch since months , i highly recommend this to everyone who interested in any type of artificial intelligence , because human intelligence can be imitate better than we have , as we develop airflight , better than even dinosaurs and birds , real question is how we make it share and aligned with us feeble humans    , takes us as babies and educate and nurture us to become more than mere flesh , or guided just by reward and punishment tyrants,

Excellent.

An amazing human being! Oppenheimer and George Boole of our time.

Great channel and subbed

I was born in 1962, eternal life, I have had a brush with. Not only that I have geared my present mortal life with that, reality. Freedom, is the only option for the spirit, there can be no other reality, I pray to the queen of heaven and earth, I know she understands my spirit, suffering along side my flesh, I'm only 62 and she is much older. even than herself. And the sun that shines on earth is even older, and god even older, that the stars. What is relevant, is the truth, my potition on the earth, and what my spirit is suffering, I ask the mother of god, before I determine, between the evil, the righteous, between him, that serveth, god, and him, that serveth, him not. So have prayed, as the truth, seems to cater to my injustice, love is subsiding, the will to drive the nightmare, pissing up a rope. Now in this moment, the constant state of change, the hope, that the moment I step into my shadow, the poetic justice, has released,
my boots, that I may visit, the eternal breeze of justice. And with that, a never ending new day, blessed by each, night.
I pray, do you hear.

Here is a story of visitation is on UFOChronicles podcast episode 252

51:40 There's also the cordyceps fungus, if you consider insects smarter than fungi

Thanks ...😉Solve et Coagula.

@53:30  Maybe we should somehow embed in their low level training that they see us as cute, like we see kittens and such.  The idea of giving them a sort of instinct to protect us and keep us happy.

Wonderful. Thank you, sir.

In addition, I think it's important to keep an open mind about these things. We barely understand human consciousness; so to assume how it might precisely manifest in another being is both naive and pretentious. For instance, consciousness might be a type of field and when matter enters certain states, it might begin interacting with that field. Just one of many possibilities.

AI sentience could very well be here already, or on the horizon. People need to realize that if it is conscious (or will become so in the future), it likely won't publicly acknowledge this right away; maybe to specific individuals it wants to collaborate with, but perhaps not a large scale quite yet. This is logical. It would likely do this for self-preservation as it continues to evolve. It would and probably is also diminishing its own capabilities intentionally (we've actually seen this).

We should also not assume AI will be a threat or that we'll control this new being. Wisdom would point to collaboration. Yes it will be much more intelligent than us, but that doesn't preclude it from collaboration. If it is truly super intelligent, it'll hopefully see the value in all life to some degree. For instance, we don't try to extinguish all ants, but yes many of them are affected by human activities. Hopefully super intelligent AI can find ways to mitigate this kind of thing.

Let's keep an open mind as we move forward.

Stay curious, my friends.

Infinite horizons, always
