This movie is going to age in credibly I think, such an interesting concept. I wasn’t on board when the twist happened but it stuck the landing by the end 100%

Watched it last night and had no idea what I was in store for. Honestly…. I fckn loved it. The more I sit with it the more I like it

I went it blind and was surprised how much I enjoyed myself. It’s like a love child of the Coen Bros and Wes Anderson. A cult classic in the making. I dig it!

Went in blind (as you should) and had a great time

The monologue tom cruise gave as digger may be one of the best scenes he's ever done. I appreciated that the film was self aware and poked fun at the generic hollywood political satire that the play was trying to be. It felt like it had way more to say that what the film that was marketed would have (if that makes sense).

I liked it.  It could be any event where we are changed and look back.  The narrative has to pick something.

1:34 they don't impact the movie, they affect the movie.

The movie was advertised as being designed differently.  With this in mind perhaps  the  problem is  people  are going  with  the  mindset of a traditional movie when is not a traditional movie. The movie is a play within a movie, themed as a dystopian with a very targeted concept  in  mind.

People do not like the new movie because it portrays people making their worst decisions ever at their worst  moments  in  life.

Here's  a different interpretation of the Rockwell nephew and the daughter subplot: we should compare it with Riz Ahmeds storyline. We know from the writing on the walls in the final credits that the world is now ruled by tech billonares, and it's a surveillance state. Jeese never outright states his company is the same search and rescue company of his mom's... But rather a company that 'finds' people.

To me, this leads me to believe that Jesse is actually much closer to Digger than it first seems. Which is why he believes Diggers performance is so good.

Back to Riz, he ends up eating the tuna, 'believing in the bogus story of its farm raised nature. And plays right into Diggers hands by not lying. Does Curtis not do something very similar himself by advocating for Digger to be a more complex character?

I think it's a unique and genuinely fascinating film. It's actually well acted, designed and photographed but I still found the experience terrible. After decades of film watching I can't think of a more self-regarding film. It was like being lectured on so many different topics. The meta twist after half an hour made no sense, whether it was meant to be taken literally or in the context of a satirical fable. The discussion about climate change being everyone's fault due to consumerism was as sharp as a wet sponge. Some have said the last half hour saved the film, but I think it made things worse. First, we got a patronising lecture deconstructing what satire was, when I think most know was it is, and what purpose it serves, and Jesse Plemmons explaining the need for artistic expression regarding the type of film we're watching (or whatever media for that matter) as a kind of catharsis was outrageously self regarding on the writers' parts. It's a fascinating film for sure and Cruise proved he's lost none of his acting chops after all those Mission Impossible films and I would encourage people to see this to make up their own minds, but I found it hollow, ill-conceived, obvious and the none of the humour landed for me and the first meta twist was a narrative cheat which took me out of the story and the latter curve-ball made no sense as the meta drama wasn't smart nor funny enough to personally convince me that what happened in that regard, would actually happen because it didn't satisfy the thesis that Clemmons' character proposed. The battle lines over Digger have been drawn, now, I think and I don't think they'll shift much over time like say, Heaven's Gate and more recently, Josie and the Pussycats did. An interesting debate topic though and it's good to see people engaged no matter what position they've taken.

If I had to compare Digger, I would compare it to Dr. Strangelove and Wes Anderson's Asteroid City. It had a lot of the cinematography and quirkiness that reminded me of Wes' work. (And the twist.) Plus, the entire absurd over the top look at Inept Men with power screwing up the fate of the world.

Digger is Warner’s FTW final message to everyone. Best film of 2026.

Challenging and people call it gimmicky is because of its "fourth wall" breaking nature. It isn't a gimmick. Not many people have seen "Opening Night" which i feel is just as challenging as it questions the relationship between person and performance.

Here that "gimmick" is used, not only to add a layer to the story, but also challenges the nature of the performative politics and culture.

Add in environmentalist selling out, mocking religious devotion, the military, THEN asking the audience to think about their complicity in all of this....it's pretty abrasive imo.

I'm not surprised people find this challenging and confusing when a movie like "Inception" was also confusing to most.

Fascinatingly Lubezki seems to have used his color palatte from Burn After Reading and the Jim Carrey Series of Unfortunate Events .

You should check out Y Tu Mama Tambien or The Assassination of Nixon if you like his cinematography

I am not a huge fan of artsy movies (e.g. Poor things - I absolutely despise that movie; I like The Substance) but I loved Digger. I like that it is not funny. The world is not funny. It’s depressing and dystopian. I laughed at the there’s women at this table joke and that’s it. What sold the movie for me the most is its grandiosity, real sets, great acting. And also “level four” was cherry on top.
The storyline with the daughter just confirms the fact that we would all use billionaire’s help even though we dislike their business.
About the critics- I think many of them are afraid because the media is being consolidated and they want to keep their job.

Level 4.
Level 4!

Not everyone hates the movie. Some hate it.

If you guys enjoyed this you have to see Bardo if you haven’t already.

Wait, I'm actually intrigued now
