the song is sadder when you think of the line in goodbye where he says “you can pick the street, i’ll meet you on the other side” :,(

Bo asked the question "Why did the chicken crossed the road" and his answer is a beautiful heartbreaking song

Alright well, I know it’s been said to death, but the man has fucking genius. I just cried to one of the prettiest melodies about one of the oldest jokes in the world.

Only Bo Burnham could make me tear up over a "Why did the chicken cross the road" joke, such a great song.

I can not believe that I almost teared up because of a song about the "why did the chicken cross the road" joke

The ending seems so morbid and sad at first, but I actually felt like overall this was a very hopeful song. Regardless of what hits us halfway through the journey, it is essential to believe that we will make it to the other side, no matter what. The promise of the other side of any situation is in itself the best reason to try and cross. Love this song and love your reaction!

Why am I crying? He is amazing! The emotion... I feel so silly! This song is about a chicken...or is it? Thank you for exposing me to this. As a wife and mother...it hit! Same, Brad! Rooting for that hen!

"i was rooting for that chicken" we all were bro, we all were.

In 'Goodbye', when he says "pick a street and ill meet you on the other side" makes sooo much sense now 🥲🥲🥲👍

A ballad version of why did the chicken cross the road joke. Genius.

And this was on the OUTAKES! This guy is so talented man.

At the end of the song in the credits under ‘Cast’ it’s listed Spider #1 as David and Spider #2 as unnamed. 😭😂

I think one thing gets lost when watching Inside: how amazing Bo’s editing skills are. We can respect his songwriting, his singing, his comedy, his performances and visuals… but the Outtakes really show just how much content he actually made, how much he repeatedly redid it to fine tune it and how certain, very specific, cuts had to be made. Inside has a narrative; a story running through it of how both Bo (and society) were losing their minds during the pandemic. And while I know this song is beautiful and thought-provoking, I actually don’t think it would have aided in the narrative.

Inside is what it is because of the editing decisions as much as everything else.

That use of Seventh chords in the second verse!
The Interpretation of a Rooster's call as "the chicken's husband screaming."
His rich theatrical vocals!
Double meaning of "the other side"
It's too much.

Finally someone who feels the way I did about this song. I tear up every time I hear it. It’s so damn good. Your reaction was perfect.

His melodies and chord progressions evoke such emotion. He has such a power to musically manipulate in the best of ways. Your enjoyment made me smile. Thank you!

The fact he made a song about chickens so emotional is insane

Thank you for a real and uninterrupted reaction. Cheers

Note how he abruptly ended the song on that note? It leaves you waiting for a next melody. You can either say that it's as abrupt as the way the chicken passed away or it's Bo saying you should make your/the chicken's future yourself. Very nice song

We are all gonna react to the "why the chicken crossed the road" joke with sadness from now on, and it's all because of Bo.
