02:00 There's one problem with the method you propose with lectures at university as I remind them: While your brain is occupied with rephrasing and reorganizing what your professor just said, he will keep on talking, bringing up new thoughts, links and terms. You'll miss all that because your phonological loop is busy rephrasing. That's why I was stuck to linear notetaking during my studies. Because it is a task that you can perform while listening without having to think much. But I have to admit, the lectures weren't available afterwards. When I studied, professors mainly used Overhead Projectors and kept jotting everything they said down.

The Five Mistakes:
0:50 Mistake 1: Transcribing Instead Of Translating
(Don't Jot Down Everything, Explain It In Your Own Terms)
3:20 Mistake 2: Obsessing Over Form
(Don't Be Too Obsessive Over The Aesthetic. Pay Attention & Choose A Format)
7:50 Mistake 3: Ignoring Your Inner Monologue
(The Voice Inside Of Your Head? Listen To It. Confused? Raise Your Hand)
9:20 Mistake 4: Failing To Contextualize
(Connect Your New Piece Of Info To An Old Piece Of Info - Call-back, Draw Comparisons, Mind Map)
11:40 Mistake 5: Doing A Single Pass
(Review Your Notes. Don't Just Leave 'Em. Build 'Em Up Over The Semester .... Revisit & Revise)

Here Are Notes For The Vid :D

If you're reading this right now, I just want to say; I'm rooting for you. We’re strangers, but that doesn’t mean I don’t care. I know what it’s like to feel like you're pushing a boulder uphill. I felt that way until I picked up Manifest the Unseen by Luna Rivers I can’t explain it perfectly, but it changed my whole perspective. After checking it out on youtube and reading it things have been flowing—money, peace, confidence. Maybe this is your moment too. Stay open. Wishing you more than you ever imagined! 💫💰

GUYS I can’t stress enough how important it is to quiz yourself!!! A few days ago, I had a test in Spanish class on material that I didn’t know we were supposed to study. I had about 5 minutes, so I looked at the words, and quizzed myself as many times as I could. I got a 100 on that test! Please, please, PLEASE challenge yourself guys. It works :)

Trying to make notes look perfect in real time just slows me down, so I capture the main ideas and later refine them in Olovka

@coffee_lover67 1 year ago

I like how he clarifies what he means after he gives us a piece of information that we may not understand. He immediately breaks down an idea that is at first hard to decipher.

@kayquz 1 year ago

Feel overwhelmed during lectures? Recording them and using Olovka for notes is a lifesaver!

This man jas truly helped me! I went from a 89 to a 97 just because of this man!

@ChaudhariRakesh-z4e 1 year ago

definitely got caught up in making my notes pretty, switched to Olovka ai and now it’s more about content than aesthetics

3:40 i color code instead. formulas are different color, normal stuff are different color, important highlight is different color. but i do most of it outside class. i do some of this during class like formulas and imp stuff having different colors

3:55 more me my friends would make their notes really pretty and aesthetic while we were learning but I would just jot down important things my professor said and key details then later at home I would go onto the slides my professor made and then I would rewrite my notes with colour and everything and it does actually work!

This is such a good video. Another tip is to use short hand and abbreviations in your notes. That way you are writing less and listening more. Trying to teach the lesson as a way to study is a great way to see what concepts you understand and which ones you don’t remember.

Some classmates write with fancy stationery while my friend’s notes are messy. I just take my notes down perfectly instead of wasting time making it organized. I did write with fancy stationery last year and ended up with a 79 but wrote a summary about the slides this year and I have a 95. 🤷‍♂️

So I recommend writing a short summary and a little bit of mind map just for a quick detailed review.

If you can't focus or feel like you're not in the mood to take notes just drink water or consume something minty (idk I discovered this because I have ADHD )

@allissonpaz505 1 year ago

Most of my classmates don't take notes. They do, but a little bit and sleep off. When there is a test about it, they get 100 on it. Some of my classmates focus on making their notes perfectly and fail the quiz. I should focus on taking notes that are going to help me and use them when studying! Thanks Gohar!

Re: the note about lectures moving too fast to take notes while listening — that's exactly why I stopped taking notes during the lecture. I watch it first, and afterwards I turn the subtitles into a structured summary with timestamps, so it becomes a review document I actually re-read instead of half-caught notes. Same total hours, but the notes finally stick.
