Never argue or listen to a fool. Even if you are right and you win the argument you have wasted time that you could have spent in a more valuable persuit.
This idea that modern US English pronunciation is closer to Shakespearean English than modern 'British' English is a complete nonsense based on two falsehoods. The first is the US idea that all Britons speak like the late Queen. In fact very few do and if you listen to those experts who have studied 15th Century English speak, the accent is more like the English spoken around Bristol today. The second is that 'British' English has changed since Shakespeare's time (true) but that US English has not. This is obviously ridiculous; one has only to listen to the different accents of, say, New York, Alabama and California to hear differences resulting from later influences.
Amusing discussion. What is not mentioned is that most, if not all, of Shakespeare's works have been translated into most major languages and most natives of those languages believe the work originated in their language!. In some cases, again, this happened before America was invented. Moreover, America was invented by British settlers.
This is probably quite an interesting video, but the ghastly AI voice and its weird slurry transatlantic pronunciations is just too awful to listen to for any longer - I persevered for 7mins but had to give up.
