🚨Day 2: FlyDubai Hijack | PM Modi Video Call to Captain Smit Explained in Telugu by Sravani
A flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv turned into a mid-air emergency when the co-pilot attacked the Captain Smit Machchhar, inside the cockpit. This is the full story of flight FZ1073 — and the passengers who stopped it from becoming a disaster.
The Boeing 737 MAX 8 was carrying 174 passengers when, according to the report, the aircraft dropped more than 14,000 feet in roughly 30 seconds before stabilising. Indian captain Smit Machchhar was injured in the cockpit struggle. Passengers on board — including an off-duty plumber, a dentist and two off-duty flydubai pilots travelling as passengers — intervened and helped bring the aircraft down safely at Tabuk airport in Saudi Arabia.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi video-called Captain Machchhar in his Abu Dhabi hospital room. Israel's Prime Minister called him a true hero, and Israel's President announced heroism awards for the passengers who acted. The co-pilot, identified by Israeli officials as an Omani national, was subdued and handed over.
The investigation is still open. Saudi, UAE and Israeli authorities are examining the co-pilot's motive, how he came to be assigned to an Israel-bound flight, and whether aviation agreements were broken. The black box and cockpit voice recorder are central to establishing exactly what happened.
Some details in this story remain unconfirmed. We'll update as official findings are released.
