A 23-year-old man has been jailed for 13 months after he admitted to dangerous driving in Northampton.
Michael Chiedu Nwanze was stopped by officers in Abington Square, Northampton, on March 10 this year, when the car he was driving flagged as having no insurance.
However instead of stopping, Nwanze sped off, leading officers on a police chase through Cheyne Walk, Bedford Road and onto the A45, where he was eventually stopped near Wellingborough.
During the pursuit, Nwanze drove through multiple red lights, reaching speeds of 70mph in 40mph limit zones, and speeds of more than 100mph on the dual carriageway.
However, as he approached the Wilby Way roundabout, Nwanze got stuck in standstill traffic, colliding with a number of vehicles in his attempt to evade police.
His vehicle was eventually boxed in, and officers were able to arrest him.
He was subsequently charged with driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, dangerous driving, driving with no insurance and failing to stop for police.
After pleading guilty to the offences at Northampton Crown Court in April, Nwanze, previously of Agnes Road, Northampton, returned to the same court in June where he was sentenced to 13 months in prison.
