По воспоминаниям лётчиков, бронеспинка была надёжной и иногда выдерживала попадания 20-мм снарядов немецких авиационных пушек.
Станок должен быть установлен на прочном фундаменте или тяжелом столе, закреплен болтами для исключения вибраций, влияющих на точность обработки. Он должен быть выставлен, использование уровня для точной горизонтальной установки (особенно критично для токарных и фрезерных станков). Подведено питание в 380 вольт и для ряда станков, подведена вода, чтобы подать эмульсию на обрабатываемую поверхность. Станок должен быть заземлён.
