I love all our videos, I was gifted a D700, I bought a D4 sold is to fund my D5 just love the feel and balance of the D5.

I still love my D3 & D700, great vids 👍

I have two D5 bodies. Love them

What a wonderful posting. I am so happy you are enjoying your experience with your D5. May God bless the person who presented you with it. It did you a world of good.

Claire, it is just so very good to see your well rested smile! You are one of those people, like my wife, who wears your life on your face.

Hi Claire, there’s nothing better than a photographer who loves her camera! That’s the perfect starting point for great photos. And yes, the D5 is a "vampire"—thanks to its high light sensitivity, it turns night into day. These days, I might even be willing to part with a D3. Once you’ve discovered that love for the D5, you don’t need to look at other cameras; chasing the latest trend just distracts you from the actual photography. I can easily imagine how photography could become a nightmare if it were your only source of income. You have to please clients who haven't got a clue. Photographing weddings would be awful for me! Maybe try working as a freelancer—perhaps in photojournalism for a good newspaper. Or you could find another professional pursuit that gives your life meaning, maybe in the social sector, where you can be there for people who need help for health or social reasons. I only photograph for myself! Professionally, I do something completely different. Photography is my outlet; it makes me very happy. Concert and event photography are my specialties. Perhaps we should go on a photo safari together sometime—we’d have plenty to laugh about. 💚🌺☀️

Lovely video as always, you just being you, I don't have a D5 but I do have a D780 ,it's so good to see you with a bounce in your step 😊😊

I was gifted an expensive camera at a low point in my life.
Sometimes when life is trying to choke us, we are given a way to breathe with our eyes. We both now know, as do so many of us, that cameras are miracles of grace, God's way of letting us know He cares for us. Thankfulness is our way to Peace. Philippians 4:6.
As a fellow pilgrim, I encourage you to take full advantage of your D5 in elevating the Mundane to a state of Grace.🌿
Greetings from Eastern Washington State 🌲 Apokatastasis

Reset your vision and enjoy a new phase of photography.....thats what the D4 did for me in Barbados...i enjoy surf photography now....

Know exactly what you mean dear Claire. I have the D3, D5 en D6 and it feels like taking a friend out to diner every time I take one out on " the town" 😀😀

The D3, D4, D5 were and are all beasts of cameras, all designed to capture truly amazing images. Your D5 was the last and arguably best ever pro DSLR from Nikon, and I'm sure it will provide years of faithful service and will inspire you creatively all throughout your photographic journey. Great choice Claire.

The D800 has been my main professional camera for the past decade and I still use it, even though my main body is now the Z9. I do love the "look" of the D800 Tif files (like Velvia in my F5), and think it allows much better cropping or editing than the D5. The D5 of course has the extra speed, but I now have the ultra-speed with Z9 when required. The nice thing about the Z9 is that it still allows all my old "F" lenses to be used via the FTZII.

My very first digital was the D1h absolutely loved it literally to death I replaced it with the D3s used it for a looong time love it it still works flawlessly I think I've only featured it once on my channel where I used it with some vintage lenses. I worked for newspapers who supplied us with canon kit so I'm heavily invested now personally in canon but imho without doubt the Nikon's are better looking cameras haha. Congrats on your D5. Liked n subbed ya Chan cheers

If you're satisfied with the resolution, then the D5 is a great choice.  You actually have to go out of your way to mess up an exposure.

Glad to see you well, happy, & loving your camera Claire.  ❤By coincidence I recently bought myself  a 2016 20MP 'Flagship' camera (but it's a Canon 1DX Mk2.)   I think you're right about 20MP being a nice sweet spot resolution - it seems to work well.  I took it to its 2nd ever studio shoot earlier today. I think it went well - the pics looked good on the camera back at the time, so here's hoping LOL. I had a couple of times in 2024 with my Z5 when I thought things went welj at the time, l but later discovered  lots of images where the focus had just missed by enough to spoil them.
Best Wishes to you.

Cool video Claire 😅
D5 is my next target before xmas.😂

I have my D810, and somwhow the left hotshoelip has been bent downwards. I hope that can be remedied. Lesson: always use a hotshoeprotector.

Otherwise I use Olympus.

Which D5 version did you get Compact Flash or XQD memory slots? (Not that it matters, just curious). Love my D5! Glad you are doing better…it takes time to heal but, it’s a wonderful feeling when you get to that place that you realize you’re better off in every way. Keep safe and creative!

I find the reversed image very distracting.

If you going to talk about a camera, having the grip and controls on the wrong side is no good

do not buy the sonyrx100 !
