I had the privilege of serving this warrior about 20 years ago in a restaurant I worked at in my teens, she was absolutely lovely and her daughter (I believe that’s who was with her) was such a sweetheart! Good luck to Trisha! Xx

I am an Australian......knew of Trisha there......and I was diagnosed with prostate cancer 15 years ago.....prognosis without treatment was 8 months.........and I will be 80 in August.....so I am fit and healthy now and so very grateful. This was a powerful conversation.....thank you Ladies......all the very best to you both...James ❤❤

The more I watch/listen to these interviews, I’m in awe of Davila’s talent in drawing the guest in to their comfort zone and speaking openly about their lives and careers. Thank you so much. This one not only gave me an insight in to Trisha’s life but a snippet of Davina’s experiences with cancer in the family and her own tumour. Trisha’s daughter is lovely. Brilliantly produced.

I've lost friends when I had breast cancer too. It was a shock and I was really hurt and never knew it was a common experience. Thank you for sharing that. I intensely dislike the praise 'cancer journey'. It was used all the time in the cancer clinic. I also eventually had to leave my theatre nursing job that I loved. But I found myself. And found that I like myself much more now.

I’m currently receiving therapy and listening to Trisha talk about their childhood made me so emotional. I had no idea the challenges she faced and how the hell she got through it. I’m not even half way through the interview yet, but Trisha really is a lovely strong person. I used to go see her at Maidstone studios to be in the audience for the Trisha show, and she was always so humble and thankful for the audience to be there. She’s the brightest star I know, and my god she is a remarkable person. ❤

Oh Trisha! 🥹🥹 I am battling cancer too stage 3 and I grew up in a post independent Zimbabwe which had its apartheid. I went to a predominantly white school and experienced exactly what you did. I was six and had my ribbons pulled out of my hair and told “ only only white people are allowed ribbons” we lived in a predominantly white neighbourhood so got it in our area when I played out. I still have that trauma especially when I hear an Afrikaans accent or white Zimbabwean accent and I am 46.
I love you Trisha you are a force to be reckoned with❤

A great interview Davina. I learnt a lot from it as a stage four cancer patient myself. It has given me some tactical responses to those who know best, but also for the first time I can now think more about me and what I’m going through. All this at the same time my wife of twenty years has left. Thanks again and now to unravel how I feel and pursue happiness and time. David

I remember Trish when she lived in Sydney in the 80’s. We went to the same nail/hair salon in North Sydney. It was always loud, fun & filled with laughter when she was in there. Best wishes to you Trish 🙏

Having had breast cancer myself in 12 years ago it’s inspiring to have someone like Trisha being so open with everything even to discuss the scars which, today I still struggle with as its a reminder of what I’ve been through . As someone once told me You have to control of it don’t let it control you ! Wonderful honest interview Davina and thank you both for talking so openly about things that some people may find difficult to discuss and hopefully this will help others going forward

Loved this episode - I was 37 when my mother passed away unexpectedly of cancer - one of the hardest things for me was not knowing her wishes - she had not made a will and we had never discussed what she wanted in terms of a funeral. Having to second guess what I thought she would want made a terrible situation even worse and some of those decisions I made when I was grieving, I now look back and think of how I would have done things differently. The good thing was it made me have the conversation with my Dad so that when his time came I knew exactly what he wanted and that made the grieving process for him much easier to handle. ❤

It makes me so sad, I hate racism, it’s awful as is bullying! Bullying in all kinds of situations is awful. Cowards bully people, a terrible thing to do!

This is probably the best interview you have done to date. As you’ve said cancer is now affecting one in two people and when you hear the word cancer it sends a fear so deep it’s frightening. The way Tricia spoke about her living with cancer not battling it is insightful, it’s a prospective I’ve not heard before but it’s such a strong message that needs to be out there. There is little support for relatives of people living with this, and you almost feel embarrassed to ask for support when you partner is going through operations and chemo as their suffering is harder, but it’s also hard to be the other side of the bed watching someone you love go through this. Respect to you both for taking this message out there ❤

So glad they spoke about how when someone had cancer you lose everyone... My mum died a year and 8 days ago.... In that year, most people don't know what to say to me ( as me and mummy were sooooo close, i also single handedly nursed her at home at the end)
So everyone knowing all that, it just is hard for them cos they do not know what to say to me.... So it's easier to say nothing!
I can't lie it has been an additional hurt and grief i really didn't need on top of everything else.
So if you're reading this and your that friend, please don't say nothing, just say hello and stay the convo.... Were not always talking about death not crying, you might even catch us on a good day lol
But seriously, if you might be in that position, we would really appreciate you not just disappearing from our lives. We already are grieving that. Just say hello and let the convo flow. Also just do a little in person check in or facetime ect.... Please just don't forget about us!
( Please don't see this as judgement btw, i really just don't want it to happen to others as well. I totally have been on the other side and it's so hard to work out what to say, )
A good one is, "you don't need to reply, but I'm here if you wanna chat. Just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you and praying(if religious) for you"
Honestly they were the best ones i received. I didn't feel forgotten but i was about to cost if i was up to replying. If not i just hearted the message so they know I've read it. ❤

Both on this Podcast and in the Big Brother Diary Room, Trisha was talking about how she doesn’t want people being sympathetic towards her, by greeting her with Ahh, and tilting their neck, the limp neck, as Davina calls it.

On the Big Brother episode, shown on April 10th, Trisha, was talking to Donna about the side effects of her treatments and Donner told Trisha, that her sister had got Breast Cancer and what did Trisha do……..she she tilted her head and said Ahhh.
Which proves it’s a very natural and automatic human response to hearing such news.
I bet I could find, some clips of Davina on the Long Lost Family series, where, when she hears of unfortunate news, she does exactly the same thing.

So, I do hope that both Davina and Trisha, will think twice about being hypercritical toward such people, who show a deflated expression, when they learn that someone, is not as well as they’d hoped they would be.
