Why did they make the remakes so dark? The original games were so bright and colorful so you can see everything clearly.

These people had multiple times the budget, tech and development time the original game had, and STILL managed to make an inferior version in every conceivable aspect. They should be BEYOND ashamed of themselves.

It was a weird era for Sega, they licensed their properties to other studios without their involvement. Of all of them, Lizardcube was the best since they developed the Wonder Boy Dragon’s Trap Remake and Streets of Rage 4. Now, they’re making Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, with Sega publishing this time.

Calling them mutants instead of zombies shows you're a true House of the Dead fan. Respect.

Man, I gave Forever a pass for (eventually) getting the Panzer Dragoon and HoTD1 remakes in okay states but it's clear at this point this entire remake initiative was probably a mistake.

Probably for the best that Zwei remake never materializes

Really hope this is the end of Forever working on SEGA remakes.

It's really sad how remasters could have been the solution for preserving old classics for newer generations, making them accessible in newer hardware, but they often wind up being sloppily made cash grabs filled with unecessary design and artistic changes that ruin what made the originals classics to begin with.

This is the opposite of Sega-Licious.

Don't feel too bad about having to be negative or more citical, this is exactly the kind of game you can't go easy on.
House of the Dead is beloved, an absolute classic that deserves to be kept alive and availble in a way that's respectful... House of the Dead 2 dosen't even get the excuse of the source code being lost.
When you look at "remakes" like this and then compare them to something like the project tengo remakes of old titles (Wild Guns, Ninja Warriors, Shadow of the Ninja etc.) you get to see a proper perspective on just how much good could be done by devlopers that understand the original... in the case of project tengo, they were the original dev team from about 3 decades ago and somehow they didn't lose their magic.
There are more than enough great to good examples of old games being respectfully brought to modern platforms, let stuff like this be discarded and give it no more than it deserves, because there was incredible potential and all we got was a huge dissapointment

That's rough. House of the Dead 2 was one of my favorite arcade games of all time, it seemed like every arcade I visited growing up had it in the lineup. Me and my brother were able to beat it, which is something we could rarely say about arcade games that were designed to take your quarters. A remake sounded so good, but sad it turned out such a mess.

I hate the lighting I feel like that's a cheap way to try and make it scarier than the original but it just makes it to where you can't see shit at all

I wish publishers would stop giving their ips to Forever Entertainment, they have some of the worst track records in gaming.

I absolutely despise motion blur in videogames. The fact that they thought to put this awful effect into a rail shooter is baffling.
