I spent a reasonable amount of time with him۔ Attended many of his concerts۔

It shows how rich he was. How he used Rajasthani music even in gazals. And we couldn't trace out that. Great.

Itnaa khubsurat aur paak channel maine aaj tak nahi dekha shukriya dil se salaam hai ❤❤❤

Dhrupad is very important to learn which has been emphasised by the king of Gazal
It's very important for shruti

The Sun & The Moon & Mehdi Hassan ji one and only.

اردو زبان,  موسیقی اور شاعری پورے برصغیر کی مشترکہ میراث ہے... آفتاب عالم خان بینکاک

I am speechless ... and now I fell blessed because I found this channel ..

This is very good. Important to note: Khan sahab being so modest about his immense skills and pointing out what bothers him about his own singing. Sign of a true gentleman.

The great Mehdi Hassan Saab was like a Talisman for his contemporaries and juniors - owing to his rare GOD - gifted ability to instill respect, confidence, and inspiration in them ; for his fans, he was like a Demi - GOD -  owing to his inspirational singing attributes ! The great Mehdi Hassan Saab was instrumental in revival of the Ghazal Gayiki by bringing in a paradigm shift in its rendition through application of his midas touch, its  further ascendence and flourish and in catapulting it into its present level of much wider acceptance across the globe ! A singer of exceptional caliber and brilliance of the great Mehdi Hassan Saab is born only once in a millennium !

This is what people should be focusing on. Everyone should move towards understanding the craft, expertise and technicalities of Mehdi shb to realize the true stature of Mehdi shb. It is people like Rizvi shb who are the true devotees of Mehdi shb. There should be courses on Mehdi shb. I cannot sum up in words how happy I am to find this video. God bless Rajkumar Rizvi shb.

جب خان صاحب کی گفتگو اور غزل سنتا ہوں تو اپنے جاہل ہونے کا احساس شدت سے ہوتا ہے ، کیونکہ کوئی رائے دے ہی نہیں پاتا

This is an important document. The mix of South Indian music with ghazals and North Indian styles is extraordinary. Pakistani film music has some extraordinary ambiance. I wondered what it was since I was a child. Hearing Noor Jehan in an old film on VHS 'Kyon Log Mohabbat Karte Hai?' on Imrozia. I had never heard a human being open their mouth and make that sound. The voice had some sort of frequency that pierced the spirit. The song was not really about love, nor was it really a mujra. It was like the voice of God expressing that holding onto anything in life will hurt us, so let go and enjoy things without grasping and pain. I understood a long time after that what I could 'hear' and the God was Sufism in Pakistani films. And all the spinning actresses and whirling winding vocals were Sufi singers. I became a Sufi later on, led by Noor Jehan, Afshan, Nahid Akhtar, Mehdi Hassan and latterly Naseebolal and some Turkish singers like Ebru Gündeş [music before 2001] and Müslüm Gürses. This unbelievable survived document is showing that Hinduism and South India influences are in that mystical mix that we could not have put our finger on what on earth it was. Now we know. Irfan this is really a precious thing you have here. Mehdi Hassan, like all those Pakistani film people [I met some like Sangeeta] have no edge about themselves. They are simple people of another time, another time in the world. I don't think we will ever see the like of these performers again. But they still live on through us and our channels in our 'time travel' with the Sufis. Thanks for this  ; ) K

Waah bahut khoob..💜💚❤️🌟🎻

A very useful conversation. Concerning the sucha and khara surs Mehdi Sahib singled our Rafi Sahib and Madam Noor Jehan only ... how unique?
