Maomao is that street cat which Got Adopted By Entire Empire

Whether this poison-loving human cat realizes it or not, she is adored and well-loved by a lot of other characters in the series for what she does for them.

The women of the Jade Pavilion are some of my favorite side characters in this show. the Ladies-in-waiting are so sweet and considerate, despite not knowing the truth of her "injuries". Lady Gyokuyou is a riot to watch too, especially when she's teasing Jinshi. ;D

The edit of Gyokuyou defending Maomao from Jinshi in the honey scene is pure gold. The music elevates it to a whole new level 😂😂

It's relaxing to see that throughout all of this she really got surrounded by people who regardless of status love and care about her so much.

If MaoMao is ever framed for something she clearly didn't do I know she'd have a ton of people who would vouch for her character, both peasant and nobility. That speaks a lot about how much she adored by so many people.

It's kind of ironic how she got new friends and a family from being kidnapped and sold off as an unofficial slave. The Jade Pavilion ladies took her in and made her one of them almost immediately. And now we get to see the hilarious banter between Gyokuyo and Jinshi over whose turn it is to have Mao Mao. She gets a new father figure in Gaoshun, a new maternal figure in Hongniang, new sisters from 3 out of the 4 top Consorts, a new grandma from Suiren. And even has the potential of becoming the next Princess Consort and eventual Empress if Jinshi becomes the official heir and he takes her as a consort.

I just want to point out that in the light novels when Jinshi forced her to vomit up the seaweed, she immediately ate the other dish of seaweed that was definitely poisonous and triggered another round of the exact same thing that just happened. 😅

Mao mao is such a well written protagonist. I love this series so much!

7:50 If I had a nickel for every time Jinshi grabbed Maomao and jumped off an extremely high place, I'd have two which isn't a lot but it's weird it happened twice.
