We have a cutscene retconning of a death of a character no one cared about, a cutscene retconning a character's death despite said character getting blown to smithereens,   a cutscene tying 0 to Gaiden and a pretty decent cutscene where Kuze and Kiryu have a heart to heart conversation. All of this was added to a port of a decade old game that costs $80.

"Please care" -RGG

They really managed to make a worse version of yakuza 0

thank god yongyea is still in the game i wanted  to hear literal liquid sewage in my ears

Man I sure do love being a surface level yakuza fan, thank you rgg for giving me more hype moments & aura and reminding me that none of these games matter because silly ending haha.

Also I’m glad someone else remembers the yakuza 3 peace finance sub story cause I’m sure rgg doesn’t, I still believe that Dead Souls was the best at giving us actual fan service instead of just “hey remember dead character???” And undermining the impact they have on said character/story

The thing that tilts me the most is that they called it “Director’s Cut” but it’s very likely the new cutscenes were all dreamed up several years after Yakuza 0 released.

It’s like you said, it’s Yakuza 0 fanservice IN Yakuza 0 which is getting ridiculous.

personally, loved the scene after the majima and kiryu meet up, where they show lee in a bio tube, gaining new serious augments as one of lee's goons says "Yes... after all this time... lee will see!" and the cutscene ends as lee opens his blind eyes (explosions are bright)

I swear while i read the Nishiki and Kazuma car talk, I thought it was edited. It sounds so fan-made, like it's two people playing the game and describing how wacky things are in it.

I used to feel out of place in this world. I used to feel weird for thinking weird things happened in this game. Like when Kiryu left Nishki out in the woods to walk all the way back to town himself, or at the absurd amount of times Kiryu fought Kuze, and with just how scary Kashawagi is. I was completely lost. But then that final cutscene happened and I felt finally whole again with Kiryu and Nishki talking about all that stuff and how ridiculous it all was, I felt like RGG was truly speaking to me. Like they were telling me: "Yes, my son, we know how wacky that all was. You are not alone." Thank you RGG. Thank you for understanding me and my woes.
TL;DR: This game is now on the same level as a Dorkly video. Great.

The low poly Shinada at the bottom right cracks me up

I do wanna add that the nishiki kiryu scene also is just a worse version of the ending. you already had kiryu and nishiki hanging out at the bar. you already got to see these two happy and open there, and it's played as tragic. the new scene just tries that but without any of the dramatic undertones. which says a lot about a game that so expertly weaponized dramatic irony. also another issue is the placement of these scenes. the kuze scene is spliced in the middle of his speech from the og game. so it goes from him on the ground, to the cutscene repeating, then back to kuze on the ground. same goes for the nishiki kiryu scene. its placed right after their final scene so that scene hits less knowing its not the end, and leads to the new scene just repeating shit. literally they do the same thing. plus adding in that pointless scene probably bloats the ending, which already had a lot of scenes. around an hour, what worked is it wrapped up everything in each scene. no repeated information except for maybe thw makoto watch, but that has the credits as a buffer and the watch is meant to be a surpise. yakuza 0 dc is a dogshit rerelase and worse than the star wars special editions. its shameful that anyone preordered it and frankly, you are making the game industry by buying it. same goes for buying the fucking switch 2 at launch before any actual games come out. the only silver lining from this pathetic squirt of a game is that it is stuck on switch 2 as of now....if it ever does come to other platforms I bet original yakuza 0 will be delisted. Can't wait for kiwami 3!!!

I wish Yumi was in the ending and also had a small cameo like having a substory with her, but no, we HAVE to make a cutscene about THAT  Toko President guy AND ALSO LEE

0:50 It's crazy how basically no one is critical of yong on youtube, going against the narrative is verboten

They should've shown a cutscene of Nishitani coming back to life to get together with a female Korean from the Jingweon Mafia (it's a Nishitani III foreshadowing)

Big ups little guy 🙌 it's a shame seeing the modern RGG tendencies/philosophy infect older titles like this, especially with how much it undoes the tone and impact of certain scenes just for fanservicey reasons. I'm low key really not looking forward to Yakuza 7 onwards 🙈 really does feel like they took the criticism of 6 being fairly isolated and lacking in legacy characters and callbacks to heart a bit too much. It's a shame but I feel like Yakuza got too successful for it's own good because of things like that, so they veer ever further into that territory because that's what "works" for the general audience.

Finally we have Maxwell Paynewell bitching about the cutscenes, all is well in the world

Was it just very elaborated and carefully hidden jab at Snowiest?- shot

Exactly what I wish won't happen to Kiwami 3. I have big hopes that they won't ressurect Mine and actually flesh him out, but seeing their track record... it just hurts knowing that one of my favorite entries will be treated like this 😭

9:58 "them damn yak boys are at it again"

Actually a short yakuza video, holy shit
