The train ride ride between Prague and Dresden is stunning

Worth mentioning that the train connection between Prague and Dresden will be interrupted between Oct 26 and Nov 8, then Nov 13 to 16 and then again Dec 1 to 10. So there will be a transfer required in Usti nad Labem to a substitute bus (Usti - Dresden)

I was in Dresden in April. Outside of the main centre is a museum exhibition in what used to be a Stasi remand prison . Nearby is a house which was the KGB residency and where Vladimir Putin once worked. I was moved to see so much successful reconstruction to overcome the devastation of 1945.

I was there for a weekend prior to reunification. It was very much a garrison town with very large numbers of both soviet and East German troops and they had to stay in uniform even when off duty.  Many convoys.
We went to a bar on the river called The Circus. It was in a very large authentic circus tent. Surprisingly in a biergarten outside of it there were several dozen skinheads. I was amazed that they were still alive due to all the soviet troops but Dresden was known for them during the Cold War as well as East Berlin. They actually liked me when I told them I was US Army. I assume because we stood against the soviet s whom they hated and I had recently redeployed from Desert Storm in Iraq which interested them
I met a very old German lady that would have been alive during Imperial Germany. She was very happy to meet me but kept insisting that I was english and repeatedly asked what I thought of Dresden
I visited the church. It was a chainlink fence with weeds and a few stone blocks.
I am very happy to see that it looks much better now.  Winds of Change

I've been waiting for a good video about Dresden.  Thanks for posting!

I was in Dresden last month and my trip was almost identical to yours in terms of places covered! I then travelled to Prague and your earlier videos were the best guide for a memorable trip! Thank you 😊

Dresden definitely needs at least 3 days plus 2 for the Zwinger. I could only spend half a day here, I was looking for my jaws around.

International RPG's!!! I love it!  Thank you for showing us that there is beauty in the former DDR.   The rebuild is amazing.  Great Job!

Well well well. I am doing the opposite trip in December and going to both Christmas markets. Thanks for all the tips given on Prague. I was there in May 2024.

You two just confirmed that I want to go there too in the near future. Thank you!

We are planning this! Thankyou

Thanks for the delightful dispatch from Dresden. Please explore other notable cities in the region.

I'm becoming really fans of your videos!, thanks

Beautiful! Now Dresden is in our bucket list.

Very much appreciated vid! Pls continue those international trips! Even if we've been to Dresden at least 3 times, it's always nivlce to see it through someone else's eyes!

Another place on our bucket list.

Donors could buy single stones for the Frauenkirche or multiple ones, a very big charity event back in the days.

Didn't know it was so close. Looks easier to do it via bus but will consider it for next Prague trip

brilliant - more visit videos please Valerie!
